  • How often does your team have to 86 a menu item? Do you know which item gets sold out the most? What's the process in place to un-86 that same item? Do you know how long it takes your team to do it each time? We've 86'd countless items so far this year, and it's only mid-February. The most common one? Onion rings. We get it. The sweetness of the onion mixed with the zesty flavor of the batter is an item we crave all year long. The ripple effect of an item being sold out and then not taken off of, say, online ordering, can lead to frustrated customers, delivery drivers caught in the middle, overwhelmed employees, and poor ratings. What can take teams hours to do on their own during a lunch rush, takes our team seconds. 86'ing (and un-86'ing) is just ONE of the countless tasks the Science team takes off of your team's plate. Oh, and here's a pro tip: National Onion Ring Day is June 22nd, so make sure to let your teams know to stock up! What is a task you WISH someone could take off your plate?     In exactly two weeks, we'll be winding down Year 2 of the Women in Restaurant Leadership Summit. What a crazy ride it's been. Satyne Doner and I really set off on this journey from the day last year's ended. What could we improve? What had to stay in place? What hotel would it even be in (could we get closer to Broadway ...)? All of those details, from session topics to Board meetings to the probably 94,000 messages Satyne and I have exchanged in the past 11-plus months, have taken us to today. There will be a lot more thoughts in the weeks to come and aftermath as we take it all in, and then try to think ahead once more, but I want to say thank you, to the attendees, to everybody who has engaged and supported this wild vision of ours, and definitely to all our partners, shown below. Your belief in what we're doing and the why is everything. I don't think Nashville is ready for what we're about to bring there.
