Too often, research that doesn’t produce a groundbreaking headline is overlooked, even when it’s essential for scientific progress. But every study matters. Every attempt to verify, refine, or correct past findings strengthens the foundation of knowledge. This April, join us in recognizing the full scientific record. It’s time to give replicability the space it deserves. Have you conducted a replication study with findings to share? Submit this April with discounted APCs. #ReplicApril #ReplicationStudy #research #science

What do you think of this idea being implemented in ScienceBank?
**Disruptive Idea #2: Let’s publish papers that people understand** (A way to end the "Transgene-Gate" controversy?!!) I’ll never forget this Zoom call. During COVID, some of my own relatives—highly educated people—refused to get vaccinated despite being at high risk. I was convinced that if I just presented them with the right facts, they’d change their minds. So I prepared. I gathered papers, data, charts, and expert analyses. I anticipated their concerns. I thought that if they just knew what I knew, they’d agree with me. But when the conversation started, I was shocked. ?? They already knew the same facts. ?? They had read the same studies. ?? They had simply interpreted them differently. That was a turning point for me. Science isn’t just about generating facts. It’s about how people understand them. And here’s the hard truth: We, as scientists, don’t write for understanding—we write for each other. ?? Our research papers are unreadable to the general public. How about the whole "transgene" saga? ?? Even top journals—Nature, Science, NEJM—aren’t written for society. ?? We complain about misinformation, but our own work stays locked behind jargon and paywalls. So how do we fix this? What if we flipped the script? - Instead of expecting journalists to “translate” our work, we bring in science writers from the start. - Instead of stuffing papers with jargon, we make the primary article readable and push deep technical details to the supplementals. - Instead of writing for impact factors, we write for impact. ?? Imagine a world where the average person could pick up an issue of Nature Medicine and actually understand every article from front to back. So here’s my question: If we wrote papers for the public—not just for other scientists—would it change the way science is perceived? Or are we too entrenched in the old way of doing things? Drop your thoughts in the comments. And if you think this idea needs to be heard, please REPOST! #AcademicInnovation #ScienceCommunication #OpenScience #PublicTrust #PublishingReform #FutureOfScience #AcademicPublishing

?? MERIT Review: A Disruptive Force in Academic Research ?? I am thrilled to share an exciting milestone for MERIT Review! Our work was recently featured in USA TODAY, highlighting how this innovative framework is reshaping the academic publishing landscape. MERIT Review (Manuscript Evaluation Reflecting Intrinsic Tenets) is designed to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in academic research: ensuring fairness, transparency, and rigor in peer review. By focusing on core principles such as consistency, novelty, academic rigor, and ethical considerations, MERIT aims to provide a trusted and equitable alternative to traditional systems. ?? Key points from the article: MERIT's mission to empower researchers worldwide, particularly in underrepresented regions. How MERIT is enabling a more inclusive and impactful research ecosystem. The potential of MERIT-certified papers to redefine how academic contributions are recognized and valued. This recognition underscores the importance of challenging the status quo to foster innovation and collaboration in research. Thank you to everyone who has supported MERIT on this journey—it’s only the beginning! I invite you to read the article and join the conversation about the future of academic publishing.
