Attention companies preparing to submit or developing targets! Before you submit, make sure to review the Criteria Assessment Indicators (CAI) document. This helpful resource provides insight into how science-based targets are assessed for conformity with SBTi criteria. It brings together all the key near-term, net-zero, and sector-specific criteria, and explains the minimum documentation needed to ensure your targets are aligned. Using the CAI will make the target-setting process much more efficient, as it will help you understand exactly what is needed to make your submission a success. Take the time to review— it will save you time and effort down the line! https://lnkd.in/eKPmgukf #SBTi #sciencebasedtargets?

Enabling organizations to take swift climate action by setting ambitious emissions reduction targets.
关于我们
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis. We develop standards, tools and guidance which allow companies to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below catastrophic levels and reach net-zero by 2050 at latest. The SBTi is incorporated as a charity, with a subsidiary which will host our target validation services. Our partners are CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the We Mean Business Coalition, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Have questions about setting targets against buildings-related emissions? We’ve compiled the most frequently-asked questions into one useful document, covering everything from the applicability of criteria to how companies can estimate data when it’s not readily available. Example questions:? ? 1) How does the release of the SBTi Buildings Criteria affect companies that have active commitments to set science-based near-term and/or net-zero targets? 2) I have non-buildings and buildings-related emissions, how should I set targets? Do we need to use both the SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard and Buildings Criteria? 3) What is the best way to estimate energy consumption for new buildings without data? With this document, buildings sector businesses are better equipped than ever to set science-based targets. Download the Buildings Criteria FAQ below and head over to our website to learn more about science-based targets in the built environment: https://lnkd.in/eAFwiQF5 #builtenvironment #SBTi #sciencebasedtargets

Did you know that companies setting science-based targets using the SBTi Forest, Land and Agriculture (FLAG) Guidance must commit to halting deforestation by the end of 2025? Tackling deforestation is one of the most important actions companies can take to address land-use-related emissions and mitigate climate change. Deforestation doesn’t just mean losing trees, it means destroying one of the planet's most effective tools for storing carbon, while disrupting ecosystems and jeopardizing our chances of stopping catastrophic global heating. In this blog, SBTi FLAG Associate Lucine Courthaudon dives into why addressing deforestation is essential for preventing climate breakdown, what the SBTi FLAG Guidance means for companies, and how businesses can step up to the challenge. Read the blog here: https://lnkd.in/etxk_BGQ Want to learn more? Check out our FLAG Guidance in Brief, which provides an introduction to the guidance, key steps to set FLAG targets and further insights on the no-deforestation commitment: https://lnkd.in/eUwDrXZ9 #FLAG #Deforestation #SBTi #sciencebasedtargets

New resources to support buildings sector businesses to set science-based targets! It is now a requirement for some companies planning to set science-based targets to adopt the Buildings Sector Target-Setting Criteria. Businesses affected include: -Companies and financial institutions with significant buildings-related scope 1, 2 and 3 (categories 1-14) emissions. -Financial institutions with buildings-related financed scope 3 category 15 emissions. These businesses have two helpful resources to support them. 1) We’ve listened to your questions surrounding the Buildings Criteria and compiled a new FAQ to answer them. It covers everything from the applicability of the criteria to how companies can estimate data when it’s not readily available. 2) The Buildings Criteria in Brief provides an overview of the key points in the SBTi Buildings Criteria. We recommend reading this document if you are taking the first steps towards setting targets against buildings-related emissions. Learn more about these two helpful documents and get an overview of our work in the buildings sector in this blog from SBTi Head of Buildings, Ayla Din?ay. https://lnkd.in/ej-t-bnP #BuiltEnvironment #sciencebasedtargets #buildings

Can a net-zero economy drive economic growth, job creation, and innovation? This report from CBI (Confederation of British Industry) shows the UK’s strides towards net-zero have already provided substantial benefits. The report, titled “The Future is Green: The economic opportunities brought by the UK’s net-zero economy” found: 1) The net-zero economy has grown by 10.1% since 2023, becoming a major economic force. 2) In 2024, 22,800 net-zero businesses contributed £28.8 billion to the UK economy. 3) These businesses support 273,000 full-time jobs, surpassing employment in the telecommunications industry. 4) Including supply chain activities, the net-zero sector’s economic impact rose to £83.1 billion, supporting nearly 951,000 jobs (2.9% of total UK employment). 5) Net-zero jobs are 40% more productive and offer wages 15% higher than national averages. This report highlights the importance of a clear path to net-zero, which is why we're revising our Corporate Net-Zero Standard to align with the latest climate science—helping businesses drive similar economic benefits in markets around the world. Read CBI’s full report here: https://lnkd.in/eJW2Ek4D Companies looking to set net-zero targets should do so following version one of the Corporate Net-Zero Standard, found here: https://lnkd.in/eGGmXj35 #NetZero #SustainableGrowth #ClimateAction #GreenEconomy
