SciAccess is a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to advancing disability inclusion in STEM. SciAccess was founded in 2018 by Anna Voelker, who received the Ohio State University President’s Prize, a $100,000 award for projects dedicated to social change.
Our vision is to create educational and professional STEM communities that are aware of the need for equal access, equipped to dissolve barriers and foster equity, and dedicated to continual improvement in the inclusion and access to every area of science and STEM.
Each year, SciAccess hosts an annual Conference which brings together a diverse community of researchers, professionals, students, educators, disability rights advocates, and anyone else whose interests and skills lie at the intersection of science and accessibility.
In addition to the conference, SciAccess runs:
- Zenith, a mentorship program for blind high school students, hosted in partnership with Ohio State.
-Solstice, a portable planetarium outreach program.
-And AstroAccess, a project breaking down barriers to space exploration. For more information on AstroAccess, visit astroaccess.org.
