"The Schuylkill Center’s new arboretum designation – which involved cataloging trees and adding identifying signage – creates a marvelous opportunity for students and visitors alike to learn about the native trees of our region,” said Catriona Briger, author of Philadelphia Trees. Thanks to Green Philly for the fantastic article about our new arboretum!

This Red-Tailed Hawk was brought to our wildlife clinic after striking a window on Arch Street in Center City Philadelphia. Thankfully, a volunteer from Bird Safe Philly was able to respond to the scene and got her to us in a safe and timely manner. The bird sustained severe head trauma and damage to her eye. Through many ups and downs, after one month of treatment, the hawk was released back to her home. We are still receiving victims of window collisions daily. Do your part to avoid this preventable issue by turning your lights off in the evening and applying decals to your windows! #WildlifeWednesday

People make a big impact at the Schuylkill Center. By volunteering a few hours planting trees, you are shaping the forests of the future. Community members that bring a sick animal to our Wildlife Clinic are giving that critter a second chance at life. By sending your child to Nature Preschool or Camp Schuylkill, you are inspiring the next generation of nature's heroes. Like a drop of water sending ripples through a pond, the actions of a single person are felt across the 365 acres of the Schuylkill Center and beyond. To learn more about the different ways you can make a difference, visit our website or stop by our Visitor Center. Photo: Bastiaan Slabbers https://lnkd.in/eMvXt9hA
