We're always learning! The HIVE Team met with Sabrina McLaughlin-Willinsky and Madeleine Marr with Senator Fetterman's office to share the challenges and the great work being done in Schuylkill County. We learned what other counties and regions in the state are doing to tackle similar struggles. Thankful for good conversations and new connections! Monday, June 2 from 1pm - 3pm is the next HIVE gathering. We'll be focusing on the ABCD's of Schuylkill County (Asset Based Community Development) ?? Register here - https://lnkd.in/emZfunbQ

As always, there was lively discussion, story sharing, and brainstorming at last week's HIVE gathering. With over 60 people, it was our largest gathering to date! Highlights: ?? Dave Young with SCHUYLKILL COMMUNITY ACTION gave a report on the HIVE Housing Collaborative that has been meeting over the past several weeks. They have established short and long term goals to address the housing needs of Schuylkill County from multiple angles. You can reach out to Dave directly for more information. Their next meeting is Friday, March 14 from 9am-10:30am at Alvernia Pottsville CollegeTowne. ?? Mandy Fitzpatrick with Schuylkill Connects shared the value of Walking Audits and how they've been implemented in various locations around our county. These are great for developing plans of safe access to parks, public buildings, STS bus stops, etc. Contact Mandy for more details. ?? Eric Ziegmont and Desiree Renna with Schuylkill Transportation System presented on the many services they provide. We learned about the two apps they use, the interactive maps on their website, and the various ride share options they offer, especially for our seniors and neighbors with diagnosed disabilities. ?? A new task force was formed to explore other transportation needs in our area. We discussed the need for families with young children to get to doctors' appointments and community events, as well as folks needing rides to work. The next HIVE gathering is June 2 from 1pm-3pm at Alvernia Pottsville CollegeTowne. We'll be focusing on Asset Based Community Development. More details coming soon. ??
