A look into the ribbon-cutting tradition in construction. The exact origin of ribbon-cutting ceremonies is largely unknown. (It may have had a start in some European traditions concerning cutting ribbons during wedding celebrations.) However, we’re told that the modern ribbon-cutting ceremony dates to 1898, when the first railway track was laid to Union Parish, Louisiana. Ribbon-cutting ceremonies act as a way to celebrate the new beginning of a business that has been months or even years in the making. #CommercialConstruction #QuickBooksOnline #FactsMatter

Try as we may, we couldn’t find the origins of the beam signing tradition, but we do like the symbolism involved. A beam signing ceremony is a construction tradition that marks a milestone in a building project by allowing attendees to sign the final steel beam before it's installed. The project team, future owners of the building, and others involved in the project leave their permanent mark on the building. The ceremony symbolizes progress, unity, and the start of a new phase.
