Yesterday, SLHA’s Justin Wood attended the swearing-in ceremony for the Texas State Board of Education, celebrating both new and returning members as they take on the important work of shaping the future of education in the Lone Star State. SLHA proudly announces the promotion of Phylicia McClain to Paralegal and Tony Martinez to Assistant Business Manager. Phylicia McClain joined SLHA in November 2023. As a paralegal, she supports our attorneys across various projects and serves as a key member of the client services team. Ms. McClain brings valuable school law and litigation experience from her work with a local school district and her roles in state and local government agencies. She understands the importance of cultivating and maintaining strong client relationships. Ms. McClain earned her Paralegal Certificate from Texas Christian University and is based in the Firm’s Austin office. Tony Martinez joined SLHA in December 2022 as a Billing Specialist. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with concentrations in Trade and International Logistics from Texas A&M International University. He is currently pursuing a Master of Legal Studies with a focus on Business Law and Compliance from Texas A&M University School of Law. Before joining SLHA, Mr. Martinez gained experience as an attendance clerk, accounting assistant, and treasury management assistant with a school district. He is based in the Firm’s San Antonio office.

We proudly announce the promotion of Mary Kendall to Partner and Matthew Resor to Senior Associate. Mary Kendall brings unmatched expertise to her role. She commands a broad practice—land use development and commercial real estate at its core—with additional strengths in environmental law, oil and gas, and corporate transactions. Drawing on her in-house counsel experience with significant retail and oil and gas companies—where she managed acquisition, divestiture, and leasing projects across 17 states—Mary provides public and private clients with strategic guidance for negotiating, acquiring, leasing, developing, operating, and financing commercial properties. Her leadership fuels transformative land use and development projects, reinforcing her pivotal role in the firm’s success. Mary is based in the Firm’s San Antonio Office serving clients throughout Texas. Matthew Resor’s practice covers complex real estate negotiations and transactions. His record includes serving as lead counsel on multimillion-dollar deals and representing public and private clients with precision. A member of the Real Estate Council of San Antonio, Matthew holds licenses in both Texas and Louisiana, allowing him to navigate real estate matters across state lines. His practice zeroes in on title reviews, purchase and sale agreements, and lease negotiations and amendments—solidifying his indispensable role within the real estate team. Matthew is based in the Firm’s New Orleans Office serving clients throughout Louisiana and Texas. Join us in celebrating Mary Kendall and Matthew Resor on their well-earned promotions!
