Our partnership with Are You Mad allowed us to team up with Weez & Merl (https://lnkd.in/emJknKt4), a Brighton-based studio that transforms waste into one-of-a-kind pieces. Using 2.5kg of LDPE plastic from schuh’s pallet wraps and return bags, they melted, moulded, and hand-crafted completely unique risers for this project. No two are the same - because waste deserves a second life too. Check out the process with Az (Ayshe Zaifoglu) below!
关于我们
schuh is a shoe shop. That much you probably already knew. You probably didn't know that we were born in Edinburgh in 1981 with a simple philosophy: "To provide individual high fashion footwear, sold in a unique and exciting retail environment" Since then, that simple philosophy is still holding true, only we now have over 100 stores across the UK and Ireland, a highly successful website as well as a glittering trophy cabinet that tells us that we're pretty good at selling shoes. The secret behind this success is closely guarded, but it comes from having nice people, hardwork and dedication.

We teamed up with Conscious Creative Unit and Waste Design Studio Are You Mad to give post-consumer waste a second life, turning it into creative shop fixtures for our stores. Are You Mad brought together some of the UK’s most exciting names in sustainable design, to transform our waste into functional and beautiful objects. Are You Mad’s in-house team meticulously deconstructed over 600 pre-loved shoes and Helen Kirkum and Charlie Boyden turned this waste into unique donation bins for schuh’s Sell Your Soles (https://lnkd.in/ejGAfS3C) footwear takeback initiative. Shoutout to Az (Ayshe Zaifoglu) for capturing the process and to Jolyon Varley for sharing this partnership with his community last week.? Next up we’ll be sharing how Weez & Merl (https://lnkd.in/emJknKt4) turned return bags and pallet wrap into one of a kind shoe risers. Some things just go harder together, like peanut butter and jelly, or socks and sneakers. But when the right people find each other? That’s when the real magic happens. Launching today our Together Hits Different campaign is all about authenticity, self-expression, and, most importantly, collaboration. Owning your individuality is where it starts, but real change happens when we combine our unique energy to spark new ideas, break down barriers, and bring the best things to life. Just ask Jake Daniels and Nicole Chui - two trailblazers in sport who, despite their different paths, share a common drive to challenge norms and build inclusive communities. When they sat down together, their conversation proved exactly why Together Hits Different. ???? Last weekend we supported Clwb Creative Cymru with their REFRESH/RETOLD St David’s Day event. The Clwb (Club) founded by creative powerhouses Phie McKenzie and Dagmar Bennett FRSA started out as a supper club with the intention of connecting a community of Welsh creatives and celebrating a new vision of national pride. 4 events in, the community has grown; with over 230 sign ups for Saturday’s event and a programme which included mentorship sessions for young creatives, 3 panel discussions spotlighting talent from the music, branding and marketing fields, screenings, photography and of course a bit of a party at the end, also known as ‘networking’. Our very own Louisa Jewes and Robert Cobbina were involved with the mentorship sessions and met with 8 great young people who were full of ideas, skills and passion for their chosen career paths. Great energy. The entire event was made possible by the tireless work of Dagmar, Phie Creative Ally Talent and their team and funded by Creative Wales / Cymru Greadigol. ?? Yesterday, we reopened our fresh new store in Dundrum Town Centre, bringing schuh’s Irish store count to 14 - including six in Dublin. ?? Same schuh, but an even better experience! This revamped store now features schuh’s latest store design concept, including a bigger and better kids department with expanded product offering for the youth customer. We went all out on opening day with live DJ sets from Little O (@Orla_LittleO), a customisation station with artist Barbara Bennett (@BarbaraBennett__), and exclusive goody bags for our customers. What do you think of our shiny new store? ID: Four images showing the outside of schuh's new Dundrum store and multiple angles of the inside of the store.

Our team in Liverpool have led the way with supported internships and inclusive recruitment, and it just wouldn't be possible without the commitment from store managers like Ste. Thank you Ste! And a special thank you to Liverpool Intern to Work for all that you do to support us.
This month, we are shining a spotlight on Ste from Schuh Liverpool One Ste has championed inclusion from day one, ensuring that every young person gets a fair shot. When Schuh Liverpool One had just one available spot on an Open Day, but two of our interns were eager to participate, Ste chose to welcome both—an opportunity that made all the difference. He tailored his support to their individual needs, engaged with us regularly, and set clear targets to keep them motivated. One of our interns, Macy, dreamed of working in retail and landing a paid role. Under Ste’s guidance, she started achieving "Hero to Zero" at Schuh—sometimes even making the highest sales of the day! In just six weeks of work placement, Macy met all her targets, and in the run-up to Christmas, Ste offered her a paid contract. His unwavering support ensured she remained engaged, confident, and on track to success. Ste and the Schuh Liverpool One team have made a tangible difference in the lives of our young people by fostering an inclusive and empowering work environment. Their innovative approach proves that small changes can have a huge impact. Thank you, Ste, for being a true advocate for inclusion and for creating opportunities that transform lives. We are so grateful for this partnership! #EmployeroftheMonth #InclusiveEmployment #ThankYouSte #SchuhLiverpoolOne #LifeChangingOpportunities

On Saturday, we had the pleasure of supporting the second outing of City Daze Walking Club, this time meeting new friends and members of the community to take in the sights of Greenwich, South London. Building on the success of the group’s launch in December, members of the public were invited to sign up and join the group for a walk around Greenwich Park, enjoying stunning views of Central London on a slightly chilly January morning. Once again, new connections were made, and ideas were shared, aided by helpful conversation cards created by organisers Rose Eskafi and Zoe Mallett. At the highest point in the park, we were treated to a grounding breathwork exercise led by Calypso Barnum-Bobb, before pairing up with new partners to complete the walk. The outing ended on a cosy note with delicious hot drinks from 15grams Coffee, more sharing, and plenty of good vibes. This January, we encourage our community to embrace the benefits of mindful movement and meaningful conversation. https://lnkd.in/eYve6TFq #CityDazeWalkingClub #socialwellness #Mindfulness #Community

To add a mindful touch to the opening of our new store at Westfield White City, we sponsored the very first outing of the City Daze Walking Club, a conscious walking group designed around curated conversations. The concept is a passion project from happiness consultant Zoe Mallett (@zoemallett) and mindfulness practitioner Rose Eskafi (@stillchill.ig), aimed at fostering social connection and promoting a slightly more chill approach to physical activity. The team invited 20 people from our diverse communities, many of whom were connecting for the very first time, to join a walk from our new store to the Kyoto Gardens at Holland Park. The City Daze team created a set of branded cards, each featuring a thoughtful ice breaker question to support deeper conversations. Our partner for the store opening and the walk was ASICS, whose brand ethos “Sound Body, Sound Mind”, aligns beautifully with the event’s vibe. Could your teams and communities organise something similar in your area? ID: A collection of images from the outing of City Daze Walking Club for schuh's Westfield White City store opening.
