  • The more we can connect to each other, bring our best ideas to the table, and really listen to understand how schools want to be supported, the better chance students will have at reaching their full potential. ??

Founder & CEO of School Connect

At the recent Arizona Business and Education Coalition gathering, I witnessed the exact moment 60 organizations realized we already have all the pieces—we just need to connect them. You could literally feel the energy shift in the room when Dr. Maurice Spinnett took the stage. His personal story hit home for all of us - how his determined single mother sought support for him, and how key leaders stepped up at critical moments to provide life-changing opportunities. His journey resonated with all of us. The question we're now facing isn't about lack of resources. We have willing schools and industry leaders, technology platforms for information access, and nonprofits offering excellent programming. What we're missing is a dense, interconnected network - an ecosystem that links all these elements together through relationships built on trust. This means we need to truly understand what each organization brings to the table. It requires humility and active listening among leaders, recognizing that only through collaboration can we achieve what we're all passionate about. I left feeling inspired by our shared vision for Arizona's students, hopeful because of the humble leaders in that room willing to listen and learn, and yes - a bit nervous too. Building trust and understanding isn't easy. But this challenging, beautiful work of connecting people and creating bridges is exactly why I get up every morning - to help build a more connected world that our kids will inherit and care for.

This is exactly why Dr. Freeman won the 2024 Champions of Education Changemaker Award! • As soon as we saw this school's nomination for our Champions of Education "It Takes a Village" Award last year, we knew it was special. LITCHFIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT #79 is a true example of what it looks like to embrace partnership with the community and collaborate for the sake of families and kids' futures. "It’s about community. It’s not about one person," said Sabine Hopper, Litchfield Elementary's former principal, who generously shined a light on her team, volunteers, and families who make Litchfield the beautiful community it is. The reason we created these awards is because of schools like Litchfield, where their entire community embodies what it means when we say, "It takes a village!" What schools are beating the odds, creatively solving problems, and intentionally collaborating with their community to help students thrive? Give them a shout-out in the comments below, and then submit your 2025 Champions of Education Awards nominations! ?? https://lnkd.in/gQsPWVze #Arizona #Education #SchoolConnectAwards
