If you were at our dinner, you got to hear a great story by our very own Jenni Miller Laursen. She chronicled the story of helping her local Released Time Bible Education program recover and thrive. Ken and School Ministries assisted and educated her in the process; she started the Ohio State Office of School Ministries and helped existing programs grow and new programs begin. She and School Ministries worked to get the High School Credit Act for Released Time passed in Ohio, and she now serves on the School Ministries National Board. Since she got involved with School Ministries in 2002, we calculated that over 100,000 students have participated in Bible classes! Her story illustrates what can happen when passionate people are focused on the Great Commission with students! Exciting plans are underway to officially establish a South Carolina State Office for School Ministries! As you may know, School Ministries began in 1991 with just a few programs in South Carolina. Since then, we have expanded to over 70 programs across 14 states, with 11 more currently in development. Much of the national growth and impact of School Ministries started in South Carolina. This includes the groundbreaking High School Credit Act, passed in 2006, making South Carolina the first state to allow students to receive elective transcript credit for Bible classes. In 2008, we launched our first State Office in Ohio, and since then, Ohio has surpassed South Carolina in the number of programs. Our Alabama, California, and Indiana State Offices have also experienced remarkable growth, proving that this model is a powerful catalyst for expansion. Looking ahead, there may come a time when the National Office relocates, leaving South Carolina’s 14 programs without direct local support. That’s why we believe now is the right time to establish a dedicated South Carolina State Office—to strengthen existing programs and help new ones flourish across the state. A Task Force has been formed to raise seed funding and establish a permanent board of directors. We ask for your prayers for the Task Force members and for God’s guidance as we work toward this vision. We praise God for such a wonderful evening last week at our 2025 Vision Dinner! So many people to thank! Chef Rich with First Presbyterian Church provided a DELICIOUS meal!
