So excited to share the COVER REVEAL for my new book BALLET BROWN (Click to see the surprise!) & being added to TIME 100 Voices! Ballet pink has long been the default in ballet and even as we’ve added brown options, we’ve yet to see these options (or the representation) elevated in the same way or seen as an equal standard. So BALLET BROWN is about much more than brown tights and shoes: It’s about growing our status quo/defaults so there’s parity in representation & outcomes. And when we feel/know/see it, it’s in reach. I created ballet brown, 1st applying it in my day-to-day when referring to a range of brown shades in ballet and then to embrace the advocacy at-large. It’s here to celebrate our “many beautiful colors” and grow how we see both brown and pink in ballet.
