Last Wednesday, Schoel Principal Engineer Michael Hermecz participated in Engaging Elementary Engineers with AMSTI and Jefferson and Shelby County school systems. Michael was a volunteer engineer and judge for the competitions. The students applied their knowledge from STEM concepts to solve, design, and construct engineering projects that included a full review of their planning phase and final races to test their work. Events included computer programming and racing events for small model cars and boats. ? Michael, on his experience as a volunteer: "This was such a fun time for 3rd-5th grade students working in teams to plan, design, build, and test their work as they competed. We implement the same organizational processes as practicing engineers to see a project through design and construction."? ? Seen below in pictures are the “Float Fleet Derby” and the “Crash Test Eggstravaganza” activities.

Schoel was honored to supply civil engineering, surveying, environmental, utility, and water resources services as part of bringing this historical site back to life. Check out this video of our Bathymetric Survey Boat in action. Joseph Conn has done an incredible job with this innovative technology! #bathymetry #surveying #mapping #autonomousboat #GIS #innovation #schoel
Been putting the bathymetric boat through some real-world tests, and I’m impressed with how well it handles. Super agile, stable, and able to run in shallow water without an issue. It’s been great seeing it navigate tight spots while staying smooth and responsive. Check out the video—this thing moves! #bathymetry #surveying #mapping #autonomousboat #GIS #innovation #schoel
