Almost a wrap on National Surveyors Week! ?? SGM is lucky to have an incredible in-house survey team across Western Colorado. Surveyors play a key role in mapping our communities, planning infrastructure, and ensuring accurate land boundaries. They are the foundation of many of our engineering designs, and the entire SGM team is so grateful for their expertise. And let’s be honest—they’re not ones to shy away from a challenge. Whether it’s kayaking the Colorado River or trekking to the most rugged mountain sites, they tackle it all (and love every second of it ??). ?? Big congrats to Michael Morrison, Transportation Engineer at SGM, for earning his PE! Since joining SGM in 2021, Michael has been busy designing trails, improving roadways, and tackling feasibility studies in Colorado’s mountain communities. Some of his latest project contributions include the SH82 and 27th Street Pedestrian Underpasses for RFTA, the US-40 Trail in Granby, and the Mt Sopris Drive Improvements in Glenwood Springs. Way to go, Michael! ??

Thursday’s mini-golf challenge was a hit, with impressively designed courses popping up across our offices. From water and wastewater to transportation, our engineers tackle complex challenges every day—but last week, we had a blast celebrating their hard work with a little friendly competition. We’re wrapping up January and December with exciting additions to the SGM team! ?? Meet Zachary Wolken! Zach joins SGM’s Civil Team, bringing experience from a career that started in petroleum engineering. When the industry faced a downturn, he transitioned to a role as a GPS Survey Technician, which ultimately inspired him to pursue a civil engineering degree. When not in the office, you can catch Zach climbing one of Colorado's peaks or on the slopes. ?? Introducing Justin Backs! Justin is SGM’s new SUE Team Leader. With eight years of experience, Justin is excited to grow our SUE Team and spend time with a group of highly dedicated individuals.
