Today we're introducing you to Maya Martin Cadogan, the founder and executive director of PAVE (Parents Amplifying Voices in Education) in Washington, DC. PAVE was created in 2016 to connect, inform, and empower parent leaders to give families in DC a voice and choice in the vision for education in our city. We are so excited to have Maya on the Square Pizza Podcast?? in just a few weeks! Read up on her work ahead of time and let us know if you've got questions for us to ask! https://lnkd.in/eTP8-FAj

We've been working closely with the City of Charlotte on their Corridors of Opportunity initiative as a project manager. The city has identified 6 corridors of opportunity, or underinvested areas where they are focused on fostering thriving communities for residents and businesses in the area. There's been a combined $147 million invested in these six corridors through the city and corporate investments, all supporting over 75 projects with 20+ partners. Our role as project manager is to ensure the hubs are honoring their contracts and that everything is moving according to plan. With all of those projects and partners spread across six different areas in Charlotte, there's a lot to juggle. We help ensure everything is being done on time, correctly and within budget. We also bring the hubs together for networking events and connect them with the resources they need to succeed. Over the next few weeks we'll be taking the time to introduce you to each of the six corridors and the specifics around their projects. While we're celebrating incredible women we know this month, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention Johari Matthews, Vice President and Executive Director of ONE Community & Titans Foundation. We had a wonderful time chatting with Johari recently on the Square Pizza Podcast?? about the work she's doing in Tennessee and what other NFL organizations can learn from the Titans. Search for the Square Pizza Podcast?? wherever you like to listen, or head to our website to catch the full conversation: https://lnkd.in/edgSyH-a

Since expanding our services to create a more focused arm of our business for workforce development, we've seen a lot of confusion about what workforce development involves. So many folks believe it's just about creating jobs and calling it a day - the reality is so much more involved. Workforce development, when done right, involves skills training, career pathways, industry alignment, economic mobility, and long-term workforce planning. Equally important, it ensures wraparound services are in place to support those who will benefit from the programming. Wraparound services might include access to technology, transportation, childcare, and career coaching to remove barriers and empower individuals to fully benefit from these opportunities. Interested in learning more about how we can support the creation of a workforce development program in your area? Head here to get in touch with Fontella McKyer, Psy.D, our director of workforce development: https://scherm.co/contact/ #workforcedevelopment #strategy #consulting

We are honored we have the opportunity to work with so many incredible women through our work. Throughout Women's History Month, we're taking the time to highlight just a few we think you should know about. First up, we're thrilled to introduce you to the incredible LaToya Faustin, Executive Director of She Built This City, a nonprofit which provides programming designed to build pathways to lucrative careers in the skilled trades for youth, women, and marginalized communities. The work they're doing is powerful and it's been an honor to support them over the years. At the helm, LaToya has built an incredible team and has made and continues to make a huge difference in the Charlotte community and beyond. She also happened to win our Strategic Implementation Champion Schermy Award at our 10 year anniversary last year ?? Today kicks off She Built This City's 2025 Change Makers Conference, which celebrates women in construction, empowers change, and builds community. They have a bunch of public events happening the next few days that will give you the opportunity to learn more about their work and the importance of it. Check it all out at the following link, and please give them some support where you're able! https://lnkd.in/e7SBzzsP #impact #nonprofit #strategy
