关于我们
Since its inception in 1965, SCAP has remained committed to its mission of alleviating the symptoms and eradicating the causes of poverty by helping people help themselves when they are in economic, educational, or social need. SCAP accomplishes this by identifying changing community needs and mobilizing resources; administering programs that address ongoing community needs; and individual and systematic advocacy on behalf of those SCAP serves. We are proud of our record of providing a wide-range of opportunities and assistance to low-income individuals and families. SCAP looks to the future with commitment and confidence as we continue to engage the community and work to meet the challenges to support low-income people in reaching their goals.

We're thrilled to announce that Schenectady Community Action Program has been awarded a $4.975 million grant from Empire State Development through Governor Hochul's Regional Economic Development Council initiative! This transformative funding will support our SCAP Campus project, an innovative partnership with DePaul Properties, Inc. that will create a one-of-a-kind community hub in Schenectady where affordable housing, childcare, and comprehensive family support services will be co-located. Located in a NYS-designated childcare desert, our new facility will provide much-needed childcare services alongside employment support, housing services, and family crisis intervention - all under one roof. We're grateful to Governor Hochul and Empire State Development for this investment in Schenectady's future. Together, we're creating lasting solutions to help people move out of poverty. #CommunityDevelopment #Schenectady #AffordableHousing #ChildCare #NewYorkState #CommunityAction

January is Poverty Awareness Month - a time to acknowledge the challenges facing our community and take action for change. More than 20,000 Schenectady County residents live below the federal poverty level, while thousands more struggle to meet basic needs despite working full-time. At SCAP, we're committed to serving our neighbors with respect, dignity, and practical support on their journey to self-sufficiency. Through our comprehensive programs and services, we help create pathways out of poverty - one family, one individual at a time. Ready to make a difference?
