关于我们

Since 1989, the Schatz Energy Research Center at Cal Poly Humboldt has been a leader in applied research and project development for clean and renewable energy. Our current portfolio includes microgrid development, solar product testing, energy for health, offshore wind feasibility, sustainable transportation design, carbon life cycle and air quality analyses, and planning and policy for clean energy access around the globe. Our campus is located in Arcata, California - nestled between redwood forests, the Pacific Ocean, the coast mountain range, and California’s second largest inland bay. As residents of this remote rural community, we are keenly aware of our social and environmental responsibilities. We are committed to increasing energy access and resilience for communities worldwide — and do so through clean and renewable design that reduces climate change and restores environmental and human health.

  • For anyone interested in forest management, woody biomass, and carbon markets, we recently released a report on the life cycle climate impacts of producing biochar from forest residues using the Takachar reactor. This report uses the Schatz Center's California Biomass Residue Emissions Characterization (C-BREC) model to offer new insights into the variable climate benefits of biochar as a carbon sequestration tool. You can read the report on our website or attached below: https://lnkd.in/gfb4qUgS
