Dirt, debris and water are threats to your lubricants. Contaminants are attracted to your lubricants. They’re always looking for an opening to enter the containers, mix with the fluids and set up residency in your equipment. Talk about a draining relationship! Protect your lubricants’ service life by putting these tips to use. 1?? Create a lubricant storage room. 2?? Develop a first in, first out routine. 3?? Don't store barrels standing upright. 4?? Be careful when opening containers. 5?? Keep caps and lids securely on containers. 6?? Don't let dispensing equipment get dirty. 7?? Take extra care with storing grease.

A question we hear every so often is, “Why can’t engine oil be used on wire ropes?” ? The reason is this: Wire ropes need to be protected from corrosion on the outside and wear on the inside. So, the lube must penetrate through the rope’s bands—and the faster, the better. ? Engine oil will stay on the outside of the wire rope before it eventually starts to penetrate. Oil also holds onto water, which will increase the chance for rust and corrosion to occur on the rope’s bands. It will actually speed the process up. Not good. ? Worse than oil is using used oil because that adds acids and contaminants to the wire rope. With used engine oil, all the useful performance additives have been depleted. Nothing is left to protect the bands. ? Instead, use our SilverStreak Wire Rope. It quickly penetrates through the bands to reach the core so wear doesn’t occur from the inside out. It has all the good stuff your rope bands need for longer life. ? ?? Tenaciously clings to wire threads. ?? Prolongs the life of wire ropes. ?? Maintains consistency in all temperatures. ?? Rapidly displaces moisture. ?? Delivers rust and corrosion protection within the core. ?? Lighter fluid color makes it easier to inspect the condition of the wire rope.

Red bottles with green oil inside. One more thing that makes Schaeffer different than other brands.
At Schaeffer, we often say we’re ordinary people doing extraordinary work. In 2015, this ordinary person got to work on a dream project—Schaefferizing our packaging. ? Whenever you see our red and yellow drums, it’s easy to know they’re Schaeffer’s. The same wasn’t always true with our bottles and labels. When your brand has been around since 1839, you want people to know it’s your product inside that bottle. ? People love our barrels almost as much as they trust our products. It made sense to capture that brand connection with our packaging. ? Ten years later, it’s hard to believe our bottles were ever a different color. Or that ‘Schaeffer’s Since 1839’ wasn’t always front and center on the labels. ? Now people say, “Schaeffer’s Oil. It’s the in the red bottle.” ? So, here’s to dream projects! Happy anniversary, red bottles, and to you, 9005 Supreme Full Synthetic 0W-20. You were the first product to be available in our red bottles.
