#CleanEnergy ?? We are proud to team with Ford Motor Company for our Emergency Load Reduction Program (ELRP) and reward #ElectricVehicle customers for your help in supporting the grid. “The future of the two-way grid is now,” said Steven Powell, president and CEO of SCE.? “The electric industry has been preparing infrastructure and systems to take advantage of vehicle-to-grid integration, and a lot of hard work on all sides is now making that a reality,” Powell said. The ELRP helps to make the grid more resilient by encouraging #EV drivers to send power from their car battery to the grid when it is needed most. ? ? Ford supports the ELRP through its California Power Response program. Coordinated actions by the automotive industry and utility companies continue to grow in importance as millions of electric vehicles enter the U.S. market. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ghWVfU_7

As record high heat continues to blanket Southern California, we encourage customers to conserve energy where possible. ? Thomas Jacobus, SCE principal manager of Business Resiliency, observed that while the electric grid has been performing well, the region has been experiencing extremely high temperatures for several days. “Equipment has been running without much of a break due to the high demand from our customers,” he said. “One way to help reduce strain on the grid is for all of us to conserve energy by setting thermostats to 78 degrees or higher and running major appliances after 9 p.m.” See more ways to conserve: https://lnkd.in/gY2yeUpW

This year is already proving to be an active fire season, and the Quick Reaction Force continues to support firefighters as they battle wildfires across Southern California. SCE’s wildfire mitigation efforts have helped reduce the risk of losses from catastrophic wildfires by 85% to more than 90% since pre-2018 levels. Part of ensuring the safety of our communities is with the Quick Reaction Force, an aerial firefighting fleet of helitankers that can rapidly respond and stop wildfires before they get out of control. ?? Read more about the QRF’s unique advantages: https://lnkd.in/gxfvHWTE Thanks to Los Angeles County Fire Department, Orange County Fire Authority, Ventura County Fire Department and Cottie Petrie-Norris for our partnership.?

Fall may be around the corner, but Southern California is bracing for high temperatures again through this week, with weather experts forecasting another round of consecutive days of 100-plus degree weather. “We have our crews and various field resources available to respond if outages occur during this latest round of heat waves,” said Thomas Jacobus, SCE’s principal manager of Business Resiliency. “Our teams are also on alert in case of any fire or emergency that could occur due to these high temperatures.” Get energy-saving and heat wave safety tips, as well as cooling center information: https://on.sce.com/3AM9Z7k

#RenewableEnergy ??? Learn how SCE is working with the Solar on Multifamily Affordable Housing (SOMAH) program to provide rebates to property owners who install solar systems for qualified underserved communities. “By offering financial incentives for the installation of solar panel systems, SOMAH is making clean energy accessible to those who need it most and otherwise would not have access to the benefits,” says Rene Valencia, SCE’s manager of Customer Generation Incentive Programs. A statewide initiative, SOMAH can help both renters and building owners receive credits on their electric bills from the energy generated by the solar panels. ??? DYK that goats?can help safely and sustainably remove vegetation? Keeping trees and brush at manageable heights below power lines is essential to reducing the potential for power outages and the risk of wildfires.?? “The goats are easily able to eliminate overgrown brush near our power line right of ways, in areas where terrain may be difficult?for crews and equipment to access,” said Sarah Hendrix, senior utility arborist with SCE’s Vegetation Management team.
