Today is #InternationalDayForTheEliminationOfViolenceAgainstWomen. SCDAO was one out of 42 organizations in the state to receive funding through the federally funded Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Grant Program. Thank you to the U.S. Department of Justice and Office of Grants and Research for supporting SCDAO in our mission while ensuring all survivors have access to services and resources.

The Office of Grants and Research recently awarded more than $7.6 million to support prosecutors, state police and local first responders. These grants included nearly $1.9 million awarded through the Commonwealth Project Safe Neighborhood Initiative to Massachusetts State Police, Berkshire District Attorney's Office, Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office, Hampden County District Attorney's Office, Worcester County District Attorney's Office, Norfolk County District Attorney's Office, Northwestern District Attorney's Office, Plymouth County District Attorney's Office and Suffolk County District Attorney's Office (Massachusetts). https://lnkd.in/eg-dBACi

DA Hayden joined survivors and advocates at the State House for the 24th Annual Opening Ceremony for Survivors of Homicide Victims Awareness Month (SHAVM), which is observed from November 20 - December 20. Thank you to the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute for raising awareness for murdered victims and their families and being the center of healing and teaching for our communities.

The Suffolk County Fraud Fighters were in South Boston to speak with residents about current scams and how to protect themselves from fraud attempts during #InternationalFraudAwarenessWeek. Thank you South Boston Neighborhood House for having us!

Today, DA Hayden spoke to students from Harvard Law School’s Criminal Prosecution Clinic, led by Professor Jonathan Wroblewski, about prosecutorial discretion and the role of a District Attorney’s office in the justice system.

DA Hayden joined The American City Coalition (TACC) at their 3rd Annual Roxbury Worx conference as a panelist to discuss workplace advocacy and how we can create inclusive opportunities for returning citizens. Thank you TACC and all the community partners for your role in helping returning citizens overcome systemic barriers and challenges.
