South Carolina’s global reach expands again. Today, S.C. Commerce announced the addition of its first U.K. and Republic of Ireland office. Managing Director Roxana Gonzalez-Okwuosa will manage the team, with staff based in both London and Dublin. The office will promote new trade, cooperation and foreign direct investment opportunities for South Carolina throughout the U.K. and Irish markets. Secretary of Commerce Harry Lightsey, members of the South Carolina Department of Commerce team, South Carolina Senator Kent Williams and the Florence County Economic Development Partnership toured the AESC US site in Florence Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2024. ? Currently, 850 workers are onsite six days a week constructing the 1.4 million square-foot electric vehicle #batterycell facility which is scheduled for completion next August.? ? AESC will supply technology-leading battery cells to be used in the next generation electric vehicle models produced at BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC’s Plant Spartanburg. The company has continually reinvested in its commitment to South Carolina — with three investment announcements totaling more than $3.12 billion since December 2022.
