“I would put our detective bureau right up there with the best of the best,” Kurt Frisz, Chief of Police says. “Whether it’s a shooting or a series of burglaries, car thefts—whatever it might be—they’re always on it. They work well with each other and the prosecutor’s office. It’s a smooth operation back there.” Among their accomplishments, detectives solved 77% of crimes against person cases in 2022 and 2023, and 62% so far this year. That batting average is considered remarkable, compared to many police departments that struggle to solve even half of crimes against persons. Winter weather can be hard for everyone, but especially for neighbors experiencing houselessness. #StCharlesCounty is part of the Emergency Weather Response (EWR) program, which provides overnight shelter when the temperatures drop below 20 degrees, as well as food, supplies and transportation when available. When EWR is activated, neighbors in need can call the hotline at 636-344-0177 for information on where to find that shelter that night. Did you know that when you dial 911, your call goes to a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP)? PSAPs are specialized call centers staffed by trained 911 dispatchers. In St. Charles County, when you dial 911, your call goes to a primary PSAP first, meaning you speak to a police dispatcher. If your emergency requires a fire truck or ambulance, you are transferred to a secondary PSAP where a Fire/Medical dispatcher gathers critical details to coordinate emergency responses. It's important to stay on the line during the transfer!???????
