At Scale Link, we help banks purchase small business microloans originated by Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs). These purchases not only deepen your bank’s impact in underserved communities but also help fulfill your Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) obligations—especially for small businesses with under $250K or $1M in gross annual revenue. It's vital for banks to stay informed on key changes, particularly the new Retail Lending Test. Whether due to size or opting in, banks subject to this test will need to adapt their strategies to remain compliant and impactful. #CRA #SmallBusinessLoans #CommunityDevelopment #CDFIs #Banking #ScaleLink

At Scale Link, our mission is to make financial solutions more accessible and efficient for CDFIs. We’re thrilled to share our successful partnership with TMC Community Capital, a dedicated organization working to empower small businesses and underserved communities. "The Scale Link team really is trying to make it easier for CDFIs. They worked to provide us the opportunity to sell within the timeframe that worked for us. Much quicker turnaround time than what most financial institutions can manage. They have built in efficiencies because this is what they do every day. We look forward to working with them each year and would recommend them to any CDFI." We are proud to offer services that streamline processes and enhance financial operations for our partners. Our collaboration with TMC Community Capital showcases how efficient, tailored solutions can drive success and growth for CDFIs. At the beginning of this year, the Aspen Institute’s?Business Ownership Initiative?joined the?Initiative for Inclusive Entrepreneurship?(IIE), a national effort to expand access to capital for small businesses owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. Announced in October 2022 by Vice President Kamala Harris, IIE harnesses the power of public-private collaboration to ensure the equitable implementation of the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s $10 billion State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), 40% of which is designated for businesses owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals (SEDI). Our role in IIE involves a partnership with?Scale Link?to design and communicate recommendations for how states, territories and Tribal governments can craft SSBCI programs that support CDFI loans of less than $100,000. Our new publication details how SSBCI administrators can best structure capital access programs, loan guarantee programs, and loan participation programs to support CDFI microlenders. Check it out and let us know what you think!

For Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) focused on microlending, scaling can be a financial challenge. While small-dollar loans of up to $50,000 provide essential support to small businesses, the revenue generated often doesn't cover the costs of originating and servicing these loans. This leaves CDFIs searching for innovative capitalization strategies to keep growing their portfolios. #CDFI #Microlending #FinancialInclusion #CRA #SmallBusiness #CommunityDevelopment #Banking

Welcome to our new board members Jason Keller from Wolters Kluwer and Ana Hammock from Ascendus!
Special thanks and a welcome... Thanks goes to Francisco Lopez for his board service for Scale Link over the last 3 years. You offered great input and support during a really busy time of growth for the organization. And welcome goes to two new board members. I'm excited that we have Jason Keller from Wolters Kluwer and Ana Hammock from Ascendus joining us. Jason brings a wealth of CRA experience from his time with the Federal Reserve as well as now consulting directly with banks. Ana has decades of experience leading the lending team and operations of one of the nation's largest microlenders. We are very excited to welcome them both to the CDFI board dream team :) (Andrea Levere, Joyce Klein, Sara Razavi, Amber Kuchar-Bell, Robert Villarreal, Bernard Worthy, Alberto J. Paracchini, and Andy Kaufman). Thank you all for a great board meeting in person in LA!
