SCQ champions the bold advancement of quantum talent and technology in South Carolina.

关于我们

South Carolina Quantum (SCQ) began as a non-profit organization started in 2022 in Columbia, South Carolina as the South Carolina Quantum Association promoting collaboration among academia, entrepreneurs, industry, and government to propel the advancement of Quantum technology in the south. After a $15 million dollar grant from the state of South Carolina in 2023, the SCQ quickly grew interest from other forward-thinking partners in South Carolina and others in the region and establish what is now the South Carolina Quantum. Our goal is to accelerate the future of Quantum ecosystem in the Carolinas built upon three pillars: Education, Entrepreneurship, and Engagement. Through these focused activities SCQ creates a collaborative network to advance a learning environment for Quantum Information Sciences, professional workforce development across all industries, and entrepreneurship for all.

As the International Quantum Circuit (#IQC25) ramps up in concert with the UN's International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (#IYQ25), here's a quick look back at the OG, QuantathonV1. #QuantthonV2 is in October '25 in Columbia, and serves as the circuit's championship. Can't wait! ?? - - - The first two hackathons in IQC25 already wrapped at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (https://lnkd.in/ekRH8RXh) and the Universidade do Porto (https://pqhack.org/). Hackathons and quantum-powered content and opportunities are coming throughout the year! More info, including applications and sponsorship/challenge opportunities: https://iqc25.org/ ?? - - - VIDEO: In October 2024, SC Quantum hosted a 48-hour in-person hackathon that brought together students, faculty, industry professionals, and quantum experts to develop practical skills. Participants prepared for the event by completing a free four-week #quantum bootcamp, which included live classes from experts at four quantum companies and access to individual coaching through office hours. The hackathon presented three industry-sponsored challenges, and participants competed for valuable awards, including professional internships and a grand prize—a trip to the New York University Abu Dhabi International Hackathon for Social Good. Represent! We are thrilled and proud to have partnered with Massachusetts Institute of Technology during their prestigious #iQuHACK event, part of the International Quantum Circuit (#IQC25). The quantum hackathon took place January 31–February 2 at MIT. Teams from Clemson University demonstrated that the momentum for a quantum future in the Southeast continues to grow. Four teams of five Clemson students competed in the event, with one team securing 3rd place in the Alice & Bob challenge. iQuHACK’s co-president, Gabriel Cutter Clemson alumnus—is currently pursuing his PhD at MIT. Additionally, a Clemson student was part of the team that won 1st place. Wow! "Hackathons offer intensive hands-on experience in just a few days. After competing, networking, and learning quantum computing at MIT, I aim to bring this experience and enthusiasm back to SC. Our community is filled with smart, talented people—we need just two things to advance quantum computing: experienced mentors and engaging topics—both of which we developed at MIT." - Nathan Jones, Clemson University, PhD Candidate, Quantum Computing and HPC Students who place in winning positions automatically qualify for #QuantathonV2 — the second edition of SC Quantum's premier quantum hackathon taking place in Columbia, October 10-12. Let's just say we'll be cheering for the home team this October! A special thank you goes to Rong Ge of the School of Computing at Clemson University, who has been instrumental in bringing quantum awareness, understanding, and proficiency to a leading university in our state. Dr. Ge co-directs the Scalable Computing and Analytics Lab and received the National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award in 2015. Thank you, Dr. Ge, and congratulations, Clemson students!

As the International Quantum Circuit (#iqc25) kicks off on its way to a championship round at QUANTATHONV2 in the Fall, here's a quick update on the first Quantathon from October. Spoiler alert: opportunities are still opening for participants! = = = = =? QUANTATHONV1 winners, Q-RNJesus, are building an open-source solution to enhance QRNG output quality through innovative processing. See their work and milestones: https://lnkd.in/gJrqceFB The team secured both the DoraHacks Challenge and the Grand Prize at QUANTATHONV1, developed by SC Quantum. They then went on to receive a $2,000 NISQ Quantum Grant to advance the work they undertook in Columbia. This grant, a long-term DoraHacks initiative, aims to drive #quantumcomputing #innovation during the NISQ era. Thanks, DoraHacks! = = = = =? Quantathons (as we call 'em) build our global quantum community through networking with peers, technology companies, and academic institutions. The spirit of competition sparks innovation—and we love seeing today's competitors become tomorrow's collaborators! = = = = =? Wanna Quantum?? The United Nations has declared 2025 the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (#IYQ25). In support of this initiative, SC Quantum developed the International Quantum Circuit (#IQC25) with partner organizations to raise quantum technology's profile and build community around this emerging field. The Circuit begins next week (!) with our first featured quantum hackathon, #iQuHACK, hosted by our friends at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It promises to be an amazing few days, and we can't wait to witness it in person and see what innovations emerge when the students begin their work! The International Quantum Circuit is making quantum real for everyone. Here's more about our first stop: iQuHACK (Interdisciplinary Quantum Hackathon) is MIT's annual quantum hackathon. iQuHACK unites students—from high school students to early-career professionals—with diverse backgrounds to explore improvements and applications of near-term quantum devices. MIT iQuHACK 2025 features both an in-person hackathon, where participants develop and test code on real quantum hardware, and a virtual hackathon for broader participation. This year's challenges are hosted by leading companies including Alice & Bob, Classiq Technologies, IonQ, Moody's Corporation, Quantinuum, and QuEra Computing Inc.. qBraid continues its valuable support as the official platform, providing all necessary packages and dependencies for challenge-related project development. iQuHACK is committed to the inclusion of underrepresented minorities in quantum engineering and will be providing travel grant funding in support of underrepresented student participation. Remote/Virtual Registration is (still!) open until 11:59 pm on Thursday, January 30: https://lnkd.in/eFwvcqmF Wanna Quantum??

Please welcome Logan Cory to our team. He joins SC Quantum as an intern while completing his final semester at University of South Carolina. During his time at USC, Logan completed two sales internships in account development and management, served two terms as President of the Carolina Sales Institute, won first place in several national sales competitions, and created the Carolina Sales Institute Planning Book. Logan's primary focus will be developing a strategy and outreach program for our newly minted quantum micro-credentials. We are excited about his work on this project! Logan will be with us on Tuesdays and Thursdays and morning calls after getting up to speed on our mission. Welcome aboard, Logan—we’re thrilled you #WannaQuantum!
