The mission of the Seed Biotechnology Center (SBC) is to mobilize the research, educational and outreach resources of UC Davis in partnership with the seed and biotechnology industries to facilitate discovery and commercialization of new seed technologies for agricultural and consumer benefit. Today marks 15 years since I had the privilege of becoming President-CEO of Sakata Seed America, Inc. It’s been an incredible journey, and I am deeply honored to have had the opportunity to lead this company for a decade and a half. Over these years, I’ve watched our business evolve, grow and become firmly established as a significant player in the industry. One of greatest rewards has been seeing so many talented colleagues grow alongside the company—many starting as 'green recruits' and now thriving as highly effective leaders. Watching this transformation has been humbling. I am also profoundly grateful to work with such a strong, committed management team, whose passion and dedication have taken Sakata Seed America to new heights. Together, we’ve achieved milestones I couldn’t have imagined when I first started this journey. i'm grateful for the support of Hiroshi Sakata and our executive team in Yokohama. Sakata Seed America was the first subsidiary established outside of Japan in 1977--a bold step at the time--reflecting great vision. Our Japanese origins and deep foundations laid 111 years ago, have been key to our success. I thank our growers and dealers, whose support of Sakata's market-leading genetics has made our success possible. Here’s to the next chapter of growth and success.
