Today we are proud to announce the funding of SaySo, a business we have been building for over a year.? We are going to solve a massive problem in the retail space:? clearance. US retailers lose $300 Billion in revenue each year from overstock and clearance markdowns.? SaySo will solve this massive problem via an intelligent clearance optimization platform. Our first product, a marketplace of dutch auctions for clearance merchandise called Descend, is live in Canada with the Ashley Canada business of The Dufresne Group.? Personally, this next chapter is exciting for a few of reasons: (1) the problem is substantial and the solution creates great efficiencies using software; (2) we are working on a problem that’s always fascinated me since watching ShopKeep’s customers struggle with the problem; and (3) instead of investing in startups, I’m operating one again.?
