It was so great to see everyone at the KCDA Vendor Expo last week! Our time spent with the various public school districts and other educational service districts in King County and throughout the Pacific Northwest regions we service is always rewarding and inspiring. Founded in 1938, KCDA Purchasing Cooperative continues to provide centralized procurement services to its membership, while supporting their purchasing and distribution requirements. SBI has been a contracted partner with KCDA since 2007 and we are proud to be a perennial Top 5 Vendor. As part of the General Furniture Contract division, our products and services provide go-to turnkey solutions in educational spaces for KCDA members. SBI Gives Back! Last week, our SBI team proudly partnered with #911Day Meal Pack at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall to make a difference! Alongside hundreds of dedicated volunteers, we packed over 250,000 meals to help combat hunger in our local Seattle community. This incredible nationwide initiative produced more than 8.7 million meals for individuals and families across the country! We’re honored to contribute to such a meaningful cause, standing together with so many others to create a lasting impact in the lives of those who need it most. #CommunityImpact #FightHunger #SBIGivesBack

SBI PEGASUS AWARD WINNER UPDATE!! Todd Ferris, coach for the Prairie High School’s Robotics Team in Vancouver, WA, recently shared an update on how our SBI Pegasus Award has positively impacted their program since receiving the 2022 award: Financial Stability: The award also helped them stabilize their finances, rebuild their student base, and secure more long-term sponsors. Tech Advancements: The funds allowed the team to upgrade their robot’s tank-drive system to a swerve-drive. This greatly improved the robot’s speed and maneuverability and pushed students to learn new coding skills to stay competitive! Team Growth: The robotics team has grown from 8 students to over 15, with more signed up to join this fall! They have also recruited additional community mentors to help guide and support them. Competitive Success: Last season, they won their first tournament, placed second in the next, and were invited to the Northwest Regional Championship. They narrowly missed advancing to the World Championship competition! The SBI Pegasus Award Program provides a gift of $10,000 in financial support to extra-curricular programs which inspire the potential for student’s success in their career pathways. We’re thrilled to witness the incredible impact the Pegasus Award has had on the Prairie High School Robotics Team, fueling their education and passion for robotics. These inclusive alternatives benefit those who may not thrive in traditional academic settings by providing specialized training aligned with specific career paths, leading to greater job satisfaction and fulfillment. With opportunities for apprenticeships and internships, CTE equips students with the specialized skills needed for immediate employment, while offering a pathway to fulfilling and sustainable careers. As the demand for skilled professionals continues to rise, the importance of CTE in preparing the workforce of tomorrow becomes increasingly essential.
