The holiday season of giving has arrived! Today, we are kicking off our much-awaited Shooksgiving Challenge, where you can help us give back where it's needed most in the communities where we live, work and play. Every year, Shook partners with hundreds of organizations in the fulfillment of our Mission, To Dramatically Improve the Communities We Serve. We've selected four of those organizations from the regions we serve to participate in the Shooksgiving Challenge, including Cast It Forward, Children's Flight of Hope, Dayton Children’s Hospital Foundation, and Servants At Work. While each organization participating will receive a donation from Shook, the organization that receives the most votes will get the biggest check. Voting is officially open and will close on December 2 at 5:00 PM. The winner will be announced on December 3. Thank you for helping us carry out our Mission. Let the challenge begin! Last month, our 2024 class put their skills to work, building a disability-compliant ramp for a local resident through SAWs (Servants At Work, Inc.); it turns out that a group of civil construction leaders can build it! ?? It was a great way to show that our industry cares about the community. We also kicked off the day with an inspiring leadership lesson from Bob Bowen, sharing his career journey. ?? Building a Safer Community! ?? In response to our recent Community Health Needs Assessment that identified unsafe housing conditions as a risk factor for injury and falls, we teamed up with SAWs (Servants At Work, Inc.) to make a difference! Friday, September 13th, RHI volunteers and SAW collaborated to sponsor and build a ramp for Laurie at her home in Indianapolis, Indiana. Laurie has been living with her daughter in Greenfield, Indiana because of difficulty with navigation into and out of her home. By providing safer access to homes, we’re working to prevent injuries and supporting healthier, more independent lives for Hoosiers! A huge thank you to our volunteers and the great team at Servants at Work who made this opportunity possible! Yesterday, our team had the privilege of volunteering with SAWs (Servants At Work, Inc.), helping build a wheelchair ramp for a deserving client. In just a few hours, we were able to transform a life, providing greater independence and mobility for someone in need. SAWs is a fantastic nonprofit organization that has been making a difference since 2003, building ramps for low-income, permanently disabled individuals across Indiana. Appreciate that I work for an organization that supports and encourages volunteer work. We had an awesome day on Monday volunteering with SAWs (Servants At Work, Inc.) to build a ramp (a BIG ramp) for a Kokomo resident. In Kokomo alone, Community Health Network employees have performed nearly 600 volunteer hours so far this year through our Serve360 program.
