One of the biggest misconceptions about EVs is battery degradation. The reality? EV batteries degrade at just 1.8% per year, retaining 82% of their capacity after a decade. Studies show they can last over 18 years—matching or even exceeding gas cars. Research analyzing millions of vehicle inspections found that EVs have an estimated lifespan of 18.4 years, nearly identical to gas cars and longer than diesel vehicles. Ram has opened orders for its first fully electric cargo van, the 2025 Ram ProMaster EV. Designed for commercial use, it comes in three configurations, two cargo models and a step van.
