One of the things I love about being a lawyer is that it keeps me learning—constantly. Curiosity is key, which is why I recently listened to an episode of The Diary of a CEO. I don’t always align with Jordan B. Peterson’s views, but the conversation was insightful nonetheless. One part that stood out was host Steven Bartlett’s approach to his podcast and the way he stays grounded despite outside pressure. Bartlett shared: "Who am I, and what are my principles? You don’t truly understand your principles until they’re tested." He talked about how, despite the noise of public opinion, having strong relationships—both friendships and a significant other—helps keep him centered so he can focus on his work. That theme of clarity and focus resonated with me, especially in the context of estate planning for business owners. Bartlett mentioned something that stuck with me: "One thing that helps me is knowing that I’m going to die someday. It helps me focus on what really matters." Peterson responded: "Death is what makes things matter. One of the fundamental questions you can ask yourself is: What is the nature of the real? Death makes things real." This hit home because I see it firsthand with my clients. Many people avoid estate planning because they don’t want to think about incapacity or eventual death. But when they finally take the time to do it—when they plan for what would happen if they couldn’t make decisions for themselves or for the reality of their own mortality—there’s often a deep sense of relief and even gratitude for life itself. I only wish more people could see estate planning this way: not as something to dread, but as an opportunity to protect what matters most. https://lnkd.in/gXq6UVp6 #BluePinnacleLaw #EstatePlanningForBusinessOwners #BusinessLegalStrategy #EntrepreneurMindset #ProtectYourAssets #PlanForTheFuture #CEOInsights #PodcastTakeaways #SmartEntrepreneurs #BuildYourLegacy
