If you live in the Santa Cruz area, come out on October 8 to make your voices heard to ban the retail sale of filtered tobacco products! Join us in advocating for cleaner beaches.
On Tuesday, October 8th at the Santa Cruz County Government Center's 5th floor Board Chambers, the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors will hear a report as part of Agenda Item #11, take public testimony, then vote, on an ordinance proposed by County Supervisors Justin Cummings and Manu Koenig to ban the retail sale of filtered tobacco products. A recent Op Ed in the Santa Cruz Sentinel (https://lnkd.in/gzaAxJqt) describes the need for the board to take this action, which is backed by years of research into the impact that tobacco filters have on public health and the environment. Please come and make your voice heard: 1) Attend the Board of Supervisors meeting on October 8th (the meeting starts at 9AM and the item will likely be brought up at 10 AM) to speak in favor of the ordinance. You can also attend virtually. 2) Write letters of support to supervisors at [email protected] and to the Tobacco Waste Coalition at [email protected] by October 7th. 3) Encourage others to write letters in support of the ordinance, to turn out to the meeting or to call in and voice their concerns. Thank you for making a difference! Save Our Shores O'Neill Sea Odyssey
