Today, the Development Authority of Bryan County Board of Directors approved $250,000 to go toward the Well Mitigation Fund. Additionally, Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) announced they will be contributing $250,000 to the fund bringing the total fund to $1 million. The Development Authority of Bulloch County and the Savannah Harbor-Interstate 16 Corridor Joint Development Authority (Savannah JDA) approved $250,000 each earlier this summer. The fund was created to address any impacts to existing Floridan aquifer wells within the five-mile radius of the planned well sites. The fund is expected to have ample resources to provide remediation to anyone that may be affected by the wells. Bryan County, who will manage the fund on behalf of both counties, will hire a consultant with experience developing well mitigation plans to prepare policies, eligibility guidelines, processes and public information documents. This process and the mitigation policy enacted by both counties should be completed by the end of this year. “I would like to personally thank State Senator Billy Hickman for assisting with bringing this fund together,” said Carter Infinger, Savannah JDA Chairman.

On July 17, SEDA participated in MANA Nutrition's groundbreaking for their advanced food processing facility in Pooler. MANA's mission is to produce high quality, low-cost therapeutic food to end severe acute malnutrition. They will produce their signature Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) and the Ready-to-Use Supplemental Food (RUSF). They plan to hire more than 100 employees.
