Joseph OBrien, CPA joined our Financing New Media Ventures class last night to walk us through his personal journey as an Investment Banker. Met Joe a few years back when he and I held an impromptu, last minute Fireside Chat at the Fordham Finance Society Conference (a conference he established several years prior). The conference organizers may have been a bit nervous, because the panel of 4 stellar speakers they had curated came down to just Joe and I, very last minute. Joe and I chatted briefly and felt, “We’ve got this’ and had a robust convo about SPACS, 2022 market turmoil, layered with our unique vantage points: Buy & Sell Side of Investing. He has a deep understanding of financial markets and products, able to share the human and intrinsic value of deal-making, so I knew he would be a hit with our students, navigating entry to senior executive roles with actionable takeaways.?He also highlighted an industry that is all the buzz and everyone needs to be aware of (yes, AI, but the other very important one, with proven use cases across all industries- CYBER SECURITY). ?Always appreciate his willingness to jump in the ring, mentor, educate and inspire.?Great session Joe! Great session last night with Mukesh M. Patel of Rutgers Business School on effective Generative AI Prompt Engineering techniques during our Financing New Media Ventures course.?Students used ChatGPT, Bard and other platforms as we learned a bit of AI theory with a strong portion of the class dedicated to actively creating a business model for a 'US Sports League to launch a new content idea celebrating its stars'. From ideation, through business plan, strategy, a bit of Product Market Fit, to almost (alllllmost) creating the Pitch Deck Slides – all in ChatGPT4. ? Shoutout to student Jarred Martin – it was your great in-class suggestion we built a business case for; I won’t put it out here for the world to see in case you’d like to pursue the idea in the future ?? Prof Patel guided us through the various steps to engage with ChatGPT for most effective output. It was his IP, so again, I won’t put it out here for the world until he is ready, but I first learned of similar techniques summer 2022 via the LinkedIn Learning course from Dave Birss titled “How to Research and Write Using Generative AI Tools”. Phenomenal - highly suggest!! His Prompting acronym, C.R.E.A.T.E = C: Character- Imagine ChatGPT is an ACTOR & we are letting it know it’s ROLE and MOTIVATION. R: Request- Tell the AI what we Want it to DO.?PARAGRAPH vs. SENTENCES. Get very Specific. E: Examples- (optional)…provide the AI with previous examples…headlines or tone of voice or similar. A: Adjustments- “Put this information into outline form with bullets”, or “Write this in the tone of a Witty Scientist who is also a huge Star Wars Fan”. T: Type of Output- tell AI exactly how you want OUTPUT to look. ?“Deliver your response as a 500-word essay with a headline and a conclusion”. E: Extras- The little additions that make a big difference Thank you Professor Patel for moving the course forward with actionable knowledge.
