With one of the highest rates of suicides among workers, there is a growing recognition of the importance of mental health in the construction industry. In 2023, Saunders implemented a mental health initiative intertwined with, and at the same level as our physical safety program. As part of this, Saunders partnered with Dr. Sally Spencer-Thomas and was selected as one of ten organizations to pilot the 12-month H.O.P.E. Certification program in Colorado. It takes a workforce to maintain the 958 designated miles of interstate highway (source: codot.gov), and that's not counting the countless connecting highways and streets. The CDOT Brush 11-Bay Vehicle Storage and Maintenance facility is Saunders' recently completed project, providing up-to-date facilities for the CDOT workforce so that Coloradans can continue to travel to the places we live, work and play. #buildwhatmatters

Surrounded by extensive networks of parks and trails, proximity to the Rocky Mountains, and consisting of a vibrant cultural scene, Fort Collins is known for its high quality of life. However, in the past 10 years, the population of Fort Collins has grown by 22%, making living there more challenging in terms of affordability and accessibility. To navigate workforce housing challenges in the area, Saunders partnered with Colorado State University and Tetrad Real Estate to construct a 180-unit apartment complex to change the affordable housing market in Fort Collins.
