What a wild year!
We launched the franchise system in 2022. It was a slow start, but now we're managing 32M in construction across the brand, with delivery in 2025. It's amazing how much can change when you believe in yourself and don't listen to anti-awesome people. Thank you for believing in me, friends, family, customers, teammates, and shareholders of the brand.
In 2024, we figured out how to build and design our saunas in Asheville using amazing lumber, heaters, lighting, and control systems, producing over a million dollars worth of custom rooms. We developed 2 new body soaps to serve our customers an even better bathing experience. We imported our first container of Turkish towels to support our stores and partners. We closed a few deals to plant seeds for 2026.
During a huge growth push this fall, we endured Hurricane Helene, which ravaged our hometown. We watched our friends lose everything: their companies, their homes, and, in some cases, far worse. The Asheville store was spared catastrophic damage but was closed for 6 weeks during a huge growth push. The company was in a tough spot in every way; we took hardcore measures to ensure survival. It was unfun; sometimes, leadership is unfun. With a lean team, we rebuilt our Asheville operating team and reopened; we launched the Durham pop-up, then the Durham store, then Bonita Springs, Knoxville, and now Charlotte, all in a very short period of time. I am honored to lead this team and company. This team is fun, gritty, optimistic, and never quits. We are #builttoendure and 2025 is going to be awesome alongside you all.
2024 was the hardest year of my life. Thank you for shaping me. Now, back to the knitting.
Our second corporate location is now open to the public ??
Sauna House, a modern bathhouse brand offering the therapeutic benefits of contrast therapy, has officially opened its doors at 326 W Geer Street in downtown Durham. The over $3 million adaptive reuse project transformed a historic building, originally built in 1949 as the Paschall Bros Plumbing Company, into a vibrant, welcoming space designed to enhance mental and physical well-being.
Sauna House is passionate about preserving the character of older buildings while bringing ancient wellness practices into the modern era. The 7000-square-foot facility features bright, open spaces, all-gender locker rooms, and a warm, community-focused atmosphere. Visitors can experience the traditional "Hot-Cold-Relax" circuit in two settings: the public bathhouse or bookable private rooms. Both options offer communal saunas, cold plunge, and heated furniture.
“We love downtown Durham and wanted to build something really special for the community,” says Andrew Lachlan, CEO and Founder of Sauna House. “This is more than a bathhouse—it's a third space where everyone is welcome and encouraged to connect with themselves and others in a meaningful way.”
As a 1% for the Planet business, Sauna House is committed to a range of environmental initiatives. One percent of its revenue supports the Eno River Association, helping to protect the natural beauty and resources of the Eno River.
Sauna House merges a timeless wellness practice with restoration, relaxation and social connection. Come see how the legacy of 326 W Geer Street has been reimagined for Durham’s diverse wellness community and experience the transformative benefits of contrast therapy for yourself.
