“On August 12, 1851 Issac Singer was granted the patent for the first practical and efficient sewing machine. After seeing a sewing machine Orson Phelps was building and analysing its flaws, Singer created what we now commonly know as the sewing machine.” “This invention was very life changing for me because I now could make my own clothes. As a tall fella, it is very difficult for me to find clothes that fit me. My whole closet is full of handmade clothes made by yours truly." Your sewing pal, Clyde #lifeofclyde #sewingmachine

“At the start of 1848, I witnessed the beginnings of the California Gold Rush. Over the 11-year timeframe, over 300,000 people made their way over to California in hopes to find gold.” “It all began when John Sutter was building a water-powered sawmill and his carpenter, James W. Marshall, found flakes of gold in the streambed. After trying to keep it a secret, word eventually spread causing a stampede of fortune seekers to overrun Sutter’s property (eventually causing him to go bankrupt because of the damage to his property and livestock). Because of the rush of people coming to California, the Gold Rush is credited as the reason California became a state in 1850.” Your gold rushin’ pal, Clyde #lifeofclyde #goldrush

“This Sunday is International Environmental Education Day. While I try to learn something new about the environment every day, January 26th is observed as the global holiday to identify environmental issues both globally and locally and the need to conserve and protect our planet. Just because Sunday is observed as International Environmental Education Day, we should treat every day as a day to learn and help nature.” Your nature lovin’ and learnin’ pal, Clyde #internationalenvironmentaleducationday

With ski and snowboarding season kicking off, there are many folks headed to the mountains, the most popular ones in California being Lake Tahoe and Mammoth. Because of this, you would think that you would also find the most snow in these two places, but that is not the case. According to a report from San Francisco Chronicle, Lassen Peak in Shasta County gets the most snow in California. An average of 45 feet of snow falls every year, which other areas don’t even come close to. So, when you're planning your next ski trip, consider visiting Lassen Peak if you're looking for a winter wonderland. #sasquatchcontrols #lassenpeak #snow #skiing
