Saronic plans to build bigger drone boats and a high-tech shipyard dubbed Port Alpha in the wake of a $600 million funding round. "We are eyes wide open on the types of capabilities we need from a personnel standpoint, but also hardware," cofounder Rob Lehman told reporters Tuesday. "We're looking at a new class of vessels with a new way of building them," he said, "unburdened by what some of the constraints the current shipbuilding industrial base are hindered by."

We are proud to announce that Saronic has raised a $600 million Series C funding round led by Elad Gil, quadrupling our valuation to $4 billion. This new funding round will allow us to build a next-generation shipyard, one we’re calling Port Alpha. This shipyard will be capable of delivering new classes of medium and large Autonomous Surface Vessels at the speed and scale needed to protect and defend the maritime domain.
