As I've fallen out of shape and lost most of the conditioning I gained training with Central Park Track Club Tracksmith, I think back to the last time I began training from basically zero almost 9 years ago. Workout after workout getting left in the dust - quite literally. Thinking all the time, "you're only making a fool of yourself. Just give up." For some reason I didn't. My body transformed. My heart and legs began wanting the miles. A day felt incomplete if I didn't get a run in. Workouts still hurt (really bad) but they were doable. To this day I can think back to specific moments in workouts when I was able to dig deep and compete when all I wanted to do was stop and that made all the difference. The lesson I take away for now is just when you feel like giving up, that might be the moment perseverance will change things in your favor.
