Landry/French’s Inspiring Women in AEC Group hosted its inaugural event, Visionaries: Women Leading the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Industry—and it was a huge success! Over 175 attendees gathered to hear from five of the industry’s top leaders (Ellen Belknap, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB, Kylie Mason, RLA, LEED-AP, Kelly Flagg, Tasha Gardner, THERESA THOMPSON, moderated by Kelly Brewer) as they shared powerful insights on success and leadership. We’re already planning for 2025—stay tuned for what’s next. #WomenInAEC #Leadership #Inspiration #Visionaries #Visionaries2024 #LandryFrenchConstruction

We're excited to be back at the University of Maine for another project. This time, Sargent employee-owners are handling the earthwork and storm drain improvements for expansions at the Harold Alfond Sports Arena and the Shawn Walsh Hockey Center. The project is part of UMaine’s Athletics Facilities Master Plan, funded by a $170 million investment from the Harold Alfond Foundation. Crews will relocate utilities, excavate foundations, install storm drains, and create a new parking lot. Thank you to all the employee-owners making this project a Win in the Field! Thank you to Sebastian Lobe and the Maine Business School FIN 350 class for your visit to our Orono office!

University Foundation Professor of Investment Education - Dr. rer. pol. habil. - Associate Professor of Finance

Today, my FIN 350 Maine Business School class at the University of Maine visited Sargent, the 2nd largest Full-Service Contractor in Maine. Tasha Gardner, Carey Sheehan, and Casey Noyes showed how principles of business finance are applied at Sargent. In particular, they talked about the role of debt, ESOPs, followed by a vibrant Q&A. A video showcased a recent major Sargent project in the Portland area which overcame many difficulties using creative solutions. Internship opportunities were discussed as well. We finally enjoyed a quick tour of their exciting headquarters filled with Sargent's legacy. The students got an incredible insight into Sargent's firm culture, mitigating common principal-agent conflicts successfully through its ownership structure which seems to become more usual in this industry. P.S.: A wonderful walk (yes, I reached my daily steps goal ??) back home in the sun along the Stillwater River brought back precious memories which helped shape Stillwater Investing a while ago.

    Faith-Driven CFO ?? | Proud Wife / Mimi ???? | Champion of Employee Ownership ?? | Promoting Blue Collar Trades ????

?? Excited to be part of the "Visionaries: Women Leading the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Industry" panel! ?? This is such an incredible opportunity to join a group of truly inspiring women who are not only leading within our industry but are also making a real impact here in Maine. I am honored to represent Sargent alongside other outstanding professionals who are leading into the future of construction, engineering, and architecture. Registration is still open to hear from these amazing leaders: Kylie Mason, RLA, LEED-AP, Kelly Flagg, Ellen Belknap, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB, THERESA THOMPSON, Kelly Brewer, and Anna Schab. While I’m looking forward to the conversation and the chance to learn from these leaders, I won’t have the usual faces from my Sargent team in the audience. Many of my colleagues will be at the Ariat Dirt World Summit as Herb Sargent shares his wisdom with the dirt world and contractors from across the country, and most of my peers in the Maine construction finance community will be gathering at the CFMA Maine meeting in Bangor where my friend and colleague Melanie Bonnevie of Skillings Shaw & Associates, Inc. will be providing an update on bonding. I want to be in three places at the same time. It’s a testament to the incredible work happening across the industry! That said, I’m excited to engage with other thought leaders and share insights that will hopefully inspire future innovation and collaboration within our field. Looking forward to a great conversation with fellow trailblazers! ?? You can still register for this free event here: https://lnkd.in/eM_m6Pgr #WomenInConstruction #Leadership #AECIndustry #MaineBusiness #WomenLeaders #IndustryInnovation

Congratulations to Nelson “Danny” Whipple on his well-deserved retirement after an incredible career spanning four different Sargent companies: Yankee Construction, Sargent Constructors, H.E. Sargent, and Sargent Corporation. From operating a one-of-a-kind 100-ton Manitowoc crane to working on notable projects like the Boise-Cascade paper mill and Loring Air Force Base, Danny’s expertise and commitment left a lasting impact. His passion for the work, love for the outdoors, and dedication to safety made him a true role model. Danny’s advice to young operators: “Apply yourself, be safe, follow the rules, and take pride in your work. It’s all about doing it right.” In retirement, Danny plans to continue his adventures outdoors with his wife, exploring Rangeley with their camper. Thank you, Danny, for 36 years of excellence and for being an invaluable part of the Sargent family. #retirement #thankyou #legacy #sargent
