At a recent visit to SGH, Brian Zalick of the Firefighters Cancer Foundation of NY learned about our need for additional beds to open two of our new bedrooms. A few weeks later, Brian showed up with other members of the foundation with a donation of 2 new beds! We are thankful for their generosity and belief in our mission. The Firefighters Cancer Foundation of NY was established to help fellow firefighters and their families going through cancer.

Presented for the second year by Carrols Restaurant Group, our elegant and festive annual tradition continues! We invite you to celebrate and support Sarah’s Guest House at our 2025 Gala of Giving: Saturday, April 5, 2025 6PM to 11PM Turning Stone Resort & Casino Oneida/Mohawk Ballroom Featuring our famous complimentary bubbly greet, a fabulous cocktail hour, our professional Step & Repeat photography, amazing silent auction items up for bid, three course sit down dinner with grand prize raffle drawing and special presentations, “PictureBooth” fun photo booth with props and instant souvenir photos, followed by dancing the night away to the beautiful music by The Billionaires live band. There are 3 main entree items to choose from as you register, along with an opportunity to support our FUND THE HOUSE efforts ahead of time online as you purchase your gala tickets. IMPORTANT DETAILS: All gala proceeds help support and sustain Sarah’s Guest House and our mission to lodge patients and their families as they receive medical care in our community. Please support us by attending the gala! The attire is cocktail attire (suits, cocktail dresses/pantsuits). It is not black tie, but if anyone chooses to wear a tux it is more than fine also! If you attended the Sept. 2024 Italian Fest, you might have noticed signs that indicated all tips would go to local nonprofits. Sarah’s Guest House was one of those incredible nonprofits that were selected. Such a kind and generous gift from all involved in the festival. This Christmas, Sarah's Guest House will be home to 19 patients/families who are staying with us over the holidays. We wish to thank all of you who make their stays possible. With deep appreciation to our incredible friends, supporters, and volunteers. Your kindness and generosity enable us to provide hope and a healing environment to patients in need throughout the year. Our house guests feel your love through the many comforts at the house. May your holidays be filled with peace, love and the warmth of togetherness. Very thankful to Eaton who visited earlier this week. They spent several hours at the house completing various projects and preparing a meal for our guests. They were a fabulous team ready to learn and work. We appreciate your support! ??

Our annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, held last week, to kick-off the holiday season, was a heartwarming celebration themed “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year to Celebrate Our Volunteers!” Sarah’s Guest House volunteers were honored for their dedication and selfless service to the house and our guests – including our meal makers, grocery shoppers, landscapers, office assistants, guest relations helpers, drivers, Board Members, and Gala, Golf Tournament and Expansion committee members. These vast and diverse roles our volunteers fill make our house a true home to patients and their families, and also help raise important funds at our annual events to support the house! The evening featured festive holiday decor, heartfelt speeches, and tokens of appreciation. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal of their choice at Salt City Market; as our staff shared stories of impact and reflected on the invaluable contributions made throughout the year. The event embodied the spirit of gratitude, community, and holiday cheer – making it a memorable night for all! Thank you to everyone who joined us on Thursday to celebrate the expansion of Sarah’s Guest House. Founded by the inspiring Mary Keough in 1994, Sarah’s Guest House has grown into a vital resource, welcoming around 1,000 guests each year. And now, thanks to the generosity of our incredible community, we’ve doubled in size—from 11 guest rooms to 22. This expansion means more beds, more meals, more support, and more comfort for those who need it most. This milestone wouldn’t be possible without volunteers, donors, and foundations who share in our mission. From the bottom of our heart, thank you for being a part of this journey. Together, we are creating a legacy of care and compassion here in Syracuse. More photos and videos to come. ??
