The Mental Health Pulse: What the World is Telling Us ?? Mental health is a global conversation — and today at #LNIF25, we took a deep dive into the surprising factors shaping well-being across cultures and regions. Based on Sapien Labs's unprecedented scale and breadth of study, Dr. Tara Thiagarajan, Founder & Chief Scientist of Sapien Labs, unveiled the first in-depth view of the profound global trend of the decline of younger generations, not just in mood but in the fundamental capabilities of mind required to navigate life and function productively. She also discussed that social connectedness, smartphones and toxins in food and the environment contribute to deteriorated mind health. ?? "We need to really think about these root causes. In the mental health space in general, a lot of money has been spent over the last 15 years that you've seen this huge decline. And we can't just do more of the same. We need to understand, and do a lot more research into the root causes and how do we regulate for our chemical environment. We need to also think about different interventions and try them out and measure them and see how they work." - Dr. Tara Thiagarajan As the mind health and wellness of our younger generations continue to worsen, the need for cross-sector collaboration, innovation, and action has never been greater. The insights shared today will play a crucial role in shaping the future of mental health support, access and awareness worldwide. Today, Sapien Labs released "The Youth Mind: Rising Aggression and Anger," a rapid report uncovering the root causes of rising sadness, violence, and mental health struggles in teens. After surveying 10,475 teens in the US and India, the findings are alarming: ?? Adolescents (13–17) face more severe mental health challenges than young adults, with girls being hit the hardest—65% struggle to function effectively. ?? Beyond sadness and anxiety, teens report strange, unwanted thoughts, detachment from reality, anger, and even hallucinations. ?? A key factor? The younger age at which children now get smartphones. We've all been there: that job where you feel drained, disconnected, and counting down the minutes till you can leave. A lot of us know that it's not just the workload that’s weighing us down, but the culture! New data from Sapien Labs confirms what many of us suspected—our work culture plays a massive role in our mental health. It's not just about balancing work and life; it’s about making work an enriching part of life itself. Perks and wellness programs are nice, but if your workplace lacks strong relationships and a shared purpose, it’s doomed to fail and negatively impact you. Relationships with colleagues and finding pride in what you do have a bigger impact on mental well-being than any off the shelf wellness program could. Employees: Seek roles where you feel connected and valued. Employers: Stop slapping band-aids on deep-rooted issues. Foster real connection and purpose. It’s time to rethink mental health at work—and it starts with culture. https://lnkd.in/exEeWG6r #MentalHealth #WorkCulture #Leadership #EmployeeWellBeing
