On Wednesday, an Orange County grand jury formally indicted Anthony Shea, 49, for First Degree Murder with a Firearm for shooting and killing his wife, an Orange County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant, and Tampering with Evidence in a Capital Proceeding. Read more: https://buff.ly/3COhVFP

On Wednesday, an Orange County grand jury formally indicted Jaylen Edgar, 17, for two counts of First Degree Murder with a Firearm, seven counts of Attempted First Degree Murder with a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Minor and Culpable Negligence with Personal Injury for shooting multiple people in the middle of downtown Orlando while they were out celebrating Halloween. Lots of great questions from the 4th and 5th grade classes at Lakeville Elementary School in Apopka. State Attorney Bain stopped by to talk with the students about our office and how the law works to help keep their community safe.

Today, 14 students graduated from our Turning Pages juvenile literacy program! Over the past 12 weeks, these students worked hard to strengthen their reading, writing and literacy skills. This life-changing progress was made possible through our ongoing partnership with UCF’s School of Communication Sciences and Disorders and our collaboration with Positive Pathways Transition Center this semester. SAO9 team members recently attended the Faces of the Future Fundraising Breakfast at the Joe R. Lee Boys & Girls Club in Eatonville. They had the opportunity to hear powerful stories from children whose lives have been positively impacted by the club's work. The event also showcased the achievements and future goals of the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida, emphasizing its essential role in building brighter futures for our community’s youth.
