Dads, are you using your parental leave? Or does it feel like you’re not “supposed” to? When I had my first son, I was lucky—my husband worked for a company that gave him 12 weeks of paid parental leave (and for our second, he had 8 weeks). By American standards, that’s generous. But even with that time, I could sense that to him, those chunks of leave felt too long. There was something unspoken—something about being a father taking that much time off that felt like a stretch. A luxury. Maybe even a risk. The recent Forbes article (linked below) dives into this exact issue: Too many dads aren’t using their paid leave. Whether it’s because of workplace expectations, fear of career consequences, or just an ingrained mindset that parenting leave is “for moms,” fathers are missing out on time with their newborns and leaving money on the table. At Sanu Postnatal Retreat, we see firsthand how different the postpartum experience can be when partners are fully present. Moms recover better. Babies thrive. And the foundation of parenting as a team gets stronger from day one. But none of that happens if fathers feel like they can’t take time. If they feel like stepping away for a few weeks—even when it’s offered—is a career risk. So, to all the dads out there: Did you take your parental leave? If you didn’t, what held you back? If you did, how did it impact your family? Let’s talk about it. ?? #ParentalLeave #Fatherhood #PaidLeave #SanuPostnatalRetreat #WorkLifeBalance Read the article here:

Balancing Parenthood & Productivity: 5 Science-Backed Strategies for High-Achieving Parents: Welcoming a new baby is an incredible milestone—but for ambitious parents, it can feel like productivity comes to a screeching halt. The truth? Productivity in the fourth trimester looks different, but with the right strategies, you can maintain momentum while fully embracing this life-changing season. Here are 5 evidence-backed ways to stay productive while navigating new parenthood: 1?? Time Block with Flexibility: Align tasks with your baby’s natural rhythms—use nap times for deep work, awake-but-content moments for lighter tasks, and allow for flexibility as needed. ?? 2?? Delegate & Automate: Just like in business, smart delegation frees up time for what matters most. Lean on your partner, trusted caregivers, or even a postpartum night nurse or doula to lighten the load. And don’t underestimate the power of subscription services for essentials! ??? 3?? Micro Wins, Big Gains: Breaking large tasks into bite-sized actions is a proven strategy for success. Whether it’s tidying up one room in 10 minutes or stretching while the bottle warms, every small step moves you forward. ?? 4?? Prioritize Sleep with a Strategy: Sleep deprivation is real, but optimizing rest can boost cognitive function and decision-making. Sync with your baby’s schedule, split nighttime duties, and explore postpartum care solutions to maximize rest. ?? 5?? Set Realistic Goals: The fourth trimester isn’t about doing everything—it’s about doing what’s essential. Choose 1–2 key priorities per day, track small wins, and shift from a productivity mindset to an intentionality mindset. ?? ?? High-performance parents know that success isn’t just about doing more—it’s about doing what matters most. In this season, that means finding balance between achievement and recovery. Which of these strategies have worked for you? Drop your insights below—we’d love to hear! ???? #ParentingAndProductivity #HighAchievingParents #PostpartumCare #WorkLifeBalance #ParentingHacks #FourthTrimester #ExecutiveParenting #NewParentTips #PostpartumWellness

High-Achieving Parents, Meet Postpartum Care That Works for You At Sanu Postnatal Retreat, we know that success-driven parents don’t leave their ambition at the hospital doors. You’ve mastered your career, built systems that work, and now, you’re stepping into the most demanding role yet—parenthood. But elite performance in business requires recovery, support, and the right environment—and so does postpartum. That’s where we come in. Our physician-developed program integrates expert-led masterclasses, structured routine-building, and restorative care, all set in a luxury hotel atmosphere—or now, in the comfort of your own home. The Science-Backed Reset Every Parent Needs: High stress, sleep deprivation, and decision fatigue don’t just affect productivity—they impact cognitive function, emotional well-being, and long-term health. When stress builds, your nervous system goes into overdrive, making it harder to think clearly and recover fully. Here’s how to reset your brain when it’s running on empty: ?? Hydrate with Purpose – Your brain is 75% water. Replenish with a glass of water + electrolytes to combat brain fog. ?? Fuel Up Smartly – Prioritize protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs for sustainable energy. ?? Master Your Breath – Try box breathing (inhale 4 sec, hold 4, exhale 4, hold 4) to regulate stress hormones. ?? Strategic Micro-Rest – A 20-minute nap or meditation boosts clarity without the grogginess. ?? Environmental Reset – A simple change of space, a short walk, or a few minutes outdoors can shift your mental state. For new parents, these small but high-impact shifts make a world of difference. At Sanu, we don’t just offer postpartum care—we optimize it for those who expect the best. Whether in our luxury retreat setting or through our new at-home services, we provide the structure, support, and recovery tools that allow parents to show up at their best—for themselves, their families, and their careers. Parenthood is the next great challenge—and the most rewarding. Let’s make sure you’re set up for success. #ExecutiveParents #PostpartumRecovery #LuxuryPostpartumCare #CognitiveWellness #HighPerformanceParenting

I was so moved by this honest and thoughtful article in the Washington Examiner, written by Kara Kennedy, about her experience at Sanu Postpartum Retreat. Kara, who’s originally from Britain, shares her perspective on the stark difference between the postpartum resources available in the UK versus here in the U.S. Reading her words brought up emotions I don’t often feel when reflecting on my own work, it really hit me. One part that stuck with me was her take on how the level of care and attention at Sanu could feel surprising or even uncomfortable. That really made me pause. The truth is, I never set out to create a luxury experience. What we offer naturally evolved because providing this kind of round-the-clock postpartum care requires so much attention to detail. We’ve worked hard to make this kind of care as accessible as possible. Sanu is one of the most affordable retreats in the country, but even so, it’s still expensive. Here’s the thing: I don’t see what we do as “luxury.” To me, this is just what parents need, especially moms (and dads too!)—during a time of huge change and vulnerability. The early postpartum days shouldn’t just be about survival; they should be about feeling supported, cared for, and finding your footing as a new parent. I’m so grateful to Kara for capturing this experience in such a raw and real way. If you’re curious, you can read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/ep_t4c_2 What do you think new parents really need during those early postpartum days? I’d love to hear your thoughts. ?? #PostpartumCare #PostpartumSupport #FourthTrimester #MaternalWellness

Thrilled to (finally) share my recent conversation with Erica Ziel on her Core Connections Podcast! ?? FYI, @EricaZiel is a core/pelvic floor guru. Can we still say guru? ?? In our conversation, we dove into the intricate world of postpartum care, discussing the challenges, including postpartum anxiety, and opportunities for new mothers during this transformative time. This episode is packed with insights and actionable tips for moms-to-be, new parents, and anyone passionate about postpartum wellness. On a personal note, this was such a full-circle moment for me! When I was pregnant with my first son, I was really into fitness and determined to stay fit throughout my pregnancy. I worked out as hard as was healthy 3-4 times a week until the end of my seventh month. During that journey, I signed up for Erica's Knocked Up Fitness (KUF) program, which came with videos and a meal plan. I did her exercises nearly every day—this was about seven years ago! What I loved about KUF was that it was so approachable and quite frankly, I found (and still do) Erica's voice to be really soothing ??! Many years later, it was so fun to talk to her in real life and reflect on how much has changed since then. ?? Check it out on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, and let me know your biggest takeaway! ?? https://lnkd.in/esDXG9pb ?? https://lnkd.in/eapu2XMk ?? https://lnkd.in/eWQTEmRF #PostpartumCare #MaternalWellness #CoreConnectionsPodcast

For military families, the toughest battles often don't end when the uniform comes off. Here in the Washington, D.C. area, home to over 600,000 veterans and countless active-duty personnel, the challenges of the postpartum period come with unique pressures that many outside the military community might not fully understand. One major hurdle is that Tricare, the health insurance that covers military members, expressly prohibits coverage for postpartum care stays. This means that many new moms are left to navigate the postpartum period without the kind of extended care that could make a world of difference. Military moms experience postpartum depression at rates up to three times higher than their civilian counterparts, and veterans dealing with PTSD are at an even greater risk for complications like preeclampsia and postpartum depression. Military spouses face increased risks of mental health challenges during and after pregnancy, compounded by frequent relocations and spousal deployments. The mental health challenges don’t just impact those in uniform—the entire family feels the strain. Accessing mental health care is also an ongoing struggle. Stigma, logistical challenges, and lack of proper support leave many military moms without the help they need, right when they need it most. Additionally, racial disparities further complicate the picture: Black, Asian, and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander veteran moms are significantly less likely to receive timely prenatal care and postpartum follow-ups. With so many service members and their families calling this region home, it's time to acknowledge these challenges and advocate for the changes they deserve. Supporting military families means not just recognizing their service, but also standing up for the care they need long after they return home. #MilitaryMoms #PostpartumCare #MaternalHealth #VeteranSupport #InvisibleWounds #NewParents #MentalHealthAwareness #TheRealCostOfService #WashingtonDC #SupportOurTroops
