Dads, are you using your parental leave? Or does it feel like you’re not “supposed” to? When I had my first son, I was lucky—my husband worked for a company that gave him 12 weeks of paid parental leave (and for our second, he had 8 weeks). By American standards, that’s generous. But even with that time, I could sense that to him, those chunks of leave felt too long. There was something unspoken—something about being a father taking that much time off that felt like a stretch. A luxury. Maybe even a risk. The recent Forbes article (linked below) dives into this exact issue: Too many dads aren’t using their paid leave. Whether it’s because of workplace expectations, fear of career consequences, or just an ingrained mindset that parenting leave is “for moms,” fathers are missing out on time with their newborns and leaving money on the table. At Sanu Postnatal Retreat, we see firsthand how different the postpartum experience can be when partners are fully present. Moms recover better. Babies thrive. And the foundation of parenting as a team gets stronger from day one. But none of that happens if fathers feel like they can’t take time. If they feel like stepping away for a few weeks—even when it’s offered—is a career risk. So, to all the dads out there: Did you take your parental leave? If you didn’t, what held you back? If you did, how did it impact your family? Let’s talk about it. ?? #ParentalLeave #Fatherhood #PaidLeave #SanuPostnatalRetreat #WorkLifeBalance Read the article here:
