Santander US released new research that shows while middle-income Americans remain optimistic about their financial futures, they continue to navigate prices pressures from inflation. More consumers (81%) consider inflation a major concern in Q3, and 86% say it has impacted their daily lives. Nine in 10 (89%) say they have taken some action in response to inflation, such as scaling back on retail spending. As a result of these efforts, households have been able to remain current on their bills, and more of them (71%) say they are on the right track toward financial prosperity than a year ago. While many households continue to feel the effects of inflation, few consumers have taken advantage of the higher rates available on savings through a high-yield savings account or certificate of deposit (CD). Six in 10 households (61%) have not yet moved their savings to earn a higher rate of interest, and 24% are unaware of the interest rate they currently earn. The survey also identified a change in mindset around homeownership, which is falling in importance as consumers seek out flexibility and affordability, especially among younger generations. Seven in 10 Gen Z and millennials (69%) say owning a home was more important for their parents’ generation, and six in 10 (59%) believe homeownership as a sign of financial prosperity is an outdated concept. Even among younger homeowners, 46% say owning a home is more trouble than it is worth and miss the financial flexibility of renting. Multifamily housing has proven to be a cost-effective option for many middle-income consumers. Of those residing in a multifamily unit, two-thirds agree they are a good solution to produce more affordable housing options and increase the housing supply. https://lnkd.in/e4pQt-6i

Santander Bank has earned an overall “Outstanding” Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) rating from federal regulators for the second consecutive exam period covering the three-year period of 2020-2022. This represents the highest possible rating and is the result of achieving Outstanding ratings on each of the three tests the Bank is evaluated on: lending, investment and service tests. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency conducts CRA performance evaluations every three years. The agency found Santander Bank continues to excel meeting the credit needs of the communities the bank operates within, from offering support and flexibility to borrowers and customers during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensuring products and services are made accessible to customers of diverse geographic backgrounds and income levels. What an incredible milestone for Ana Botín, Executive Chairman of Banco Santander, S.A.! At Santander US we are inspired by your leadership and are excited to be part of the journey ahead.?
The last decade has been quite a journey. We've come a long way despite having to handle global crises like the pandemic, and I am incredibly proud of what we as a team have achieved. With a clear vision that has driven an extensive cultural, and organizational transformation, we are turning Santander into the best digital and open financial services platform, and we are doing it the right way. More than that, we've shown Santander's potential. We have increased the number of customers by 60 million, tripled our profit, and increased shareholder returns six-fold: I am convinced that Santander today offers the best investment opportunity among European banks. In this interview, I review what has been an incredible decade. I want to thank my team, especially José Antonio and Héctor, and the Santander Board, particularly Rodrigo and now Glenn, for all they have done; and my family, especially Guillermo, my mother, and my sons, for their amazing support. Together, we have achieved a great deal – and I look forward to more success in the years ahead. --- La última década ha sido un viaje único. Santander recently wrapped up Physical Well-Being Week, an initiative to promote health, fitness, and wellness among employees. It was inspiring to see many of our colleagues engage in activities that support a healthier and more active lifestyle. A notable highlight of the week was the series of organized group walks in our Boston, New York, and Dallas office locations. These walks gave our teams an opportunity to connect, enjoy the outdoors, and see how they can add quick exercise to their workday. Over the course of the week, about 300 colleagues recorded nearly 25 million steps! Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to a successful week of well-being initiatives. Let’s continue to support one another in prioritizing our physical health and well-being in the workplace and beyond.
