Another small-scale pond restoration win. This pond's berm had failed, such that it sustained a maximum depth of less than 2 feet and typically went dry in mid-May. In fall of 2024, we worked with the Santa Clara County Department of Parks and Recreation to repair and restore the pond, which is occupied by California tiger salamander. After recent storms, the pond reached its maximum post-restoration depth of over 4 feet. This represents a significant increase in the amount of aquatic habitat available to CTS and other native amphibians. This Project was permitted through the Habitat Restoration and Enhancement Act, a 2014 law that streamlines state permitting for voluntary habitat restoration projects.

On Saturday, January 25, the City of Mountain View and the Magical Bridge Foundation held the grand opening of the award-winning Magical Bridge playground at Rengstorff Park. The construction of this all-inclusive playground was largely made possible by the County of Santa Clara's matching All-Inclusive Playground Grant Program, which is administered by Santa Clara County Parks. Located between the Mountain View Community Center’s parking lot and tennis courts, the playground provides an innovative play area and companion programming intentionally designed to welcome people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

Santa Clara County Park Rangers are committed to protecting and preserving our regional parklands for all to enjoy. Park Rangers not only patrol the parks but also provide medical assistance as first responders, firefighters, and traffic directors. Rangers provide fun programs and maintenance of trails.
