The SCI Team has been busy connecting with students across the state over the last few weeks! From Wake Technical Community College, East Carolina University, and North Carolina State University, to engaging with high school students interested in our Construction Academy, and the Moore County CTE Pathways to Success Career Fair, it has been incredibly rewarding to share opportunities in our industry with the next generation of construction professionals. ?????? Each year, Sanford Contractors proudly presents the S. Brent Sloan Safety Award to a team member who exemplifies our commitment to safety and models excellence daily. This award honors the memory of Brent Sloan and his impactful 23-year career with SCI, which included building our HR and Safety Management programs. At our Leadership Summit on January 31, we celebrated Justin Bush as the 2024 Brent Sloan Safety Award Winner. Justin, a Bridge Division Foreman, was recognized for his outstanding attitude, proactive approach, leadership skills, and unwavering commitment to safety. “It was a real honor to be selected, as safety is my number one priority,” Justin shared. “I would never push my team and risk their safety. It’s crucial to keep safety top of mind, whether at work or at home.” Justin’s advice for other construction professionals: “Never underestimate the importance of jobsite inspections. Always check your equipment and surroundings to ensure everything is in top shape before starting work. Do not let yourself get complacent." Congratulations, Justin! ??

To close out Women in Construction Week, we’re excited to shine our Team Member Spotlight on one of the amazing women who make a difference at SCI. Meet Candelaria "Candy" Vivas! Candy, our HR Benefits Coordinator, is nearing her one-year anniversary with SCI. She helps team members understand their benefits and supports other HR duties. “Candy is a team player and a pleasure to work with,” said Development Director Zac West. “She always has a smile on her face and a willingness to help others.” Why does she enjoy working in the construction industry? For several reasons! She finds the projects and equipment thrilling, loves seeing the results come together at the end of each project, and appreciates the opportunity to explore new places through our various job sites. ??Building Division Project Wins Triangle Business Journal Award ?? The Hampton Inn & Suites Pittsboro has been honored with a 2025 SPACE Award by the Triangle Business Journal. Each year, the SPACE Awards recognize the top real estate deals and developments in the Triangle Market. Winning projects are those that have made significant impacts in the region and represent excellence in their respective categories. This year, the Hampton Inn & Suites Pittsboro stood out with its thoughtfully designed 78,500 sq ft space, featuring 120 well-appointed rooms and a unique focus on local art. As Chatham County’s first business hotel, located in MOSAIC at Chatham Park, the hotel is poised to support ongoing growth and development in the area. This exceptional Building Division project propelled our customer, BryantCorp, to the forefront, earning them the award for Best Hospitality/Entertainment project. It’s a beautiful day in Fuquay-Varina! Our Utility Division is making great strides on the Kennebec and Maude Stewart Waterline Project, installing an impressive 12,000 linear feet of 12" waterline. This vital infrastructure upgrade extends from Willow Spring High School to Maude Stewart and Tram Road, with completion expected by mid-2025. This project is all about enhancing current water infrastructure to support the area’s ongoing growth. #utilityconstruction #buildingwithtrust
