Over the last two weeks, Sandusky County Students participated in our Student Career Camps - one focusing on Advanced Manufacturing and the other focusing on Agriculture. During the Advanced Manufacturing Career Camp, students heard from industry leaders at BMG, Motion Controls Robotics, Inc., and Martin Marietta. At BMG, they connected with employees, including Espi, a recent Vanguard-Sentinel Career and Technology Centers graduate currently in their apprenticeship program. At Motion Controls, students got some hands-on experience testing one of the robots on the floor! The visit to Martin Marietta was a highlight, where they heard from Wade Weaver and witnessed a live blast for lime processing. At the Ag Career Camp, students explored Sunrise Cooperative and Luckey Farmers, discovering the many facets of agriculture - it's not just about farming! They had an inside look at farm equipment and learned about the high-tech tools needed to run a successful agribusiness. We're proud to connect students to enriching experiences with employers, with the help of North Point Educational Service Center, to help them explore potential career paths in these vital industries! Thank you to the businesses, schools, and North Point ESC for making these events possible for students!

We had a wonderful morning at our Annual Meeting, celebrating the achievements of Sandusky County in 2024 with our valued investors. The event kicked off with a recap of our accomplishments over the past year, followed by an exciting glimpse into what’s in store for 2025. One of the highlights of the meeting was the announcement that the SCEDC will be taking charge of Leadership Sandusky County, a program dedicated to developing the next generation of local leaders. We also had the pleasure of hearing from Nick Raich of Earnings Scout, who shared insights on "Trumponomics 2.0: Tax Cuts, De-Regulation, and a Fed Chair on the Hot Seat." A special moment was dedicated to recognizing our outgoing board member, Hal Hawk, for his remarkable 18 years of service. Hal has been instrumental in advancing our mission to enhance the economic well-being of Sandusky County, and we are truly grateful for his contributions to both our board and the community. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who attended and to our investors for their ongoing support. We would like to extend a special appreciation to our Annual Meeting Sponsors: - Regional Growth Partnership/JobsOhio - Mosser Construction - Whirlpool Corporation - The City of Fremont - Ohio Logistics - First National Bank - Fremont Federal Credit Union - Crown Battery - Green Bay Packaging - Fremont Division - Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority - Village of Gibsonburg Together, we are making strides toward a brighter future for Sandusky County!

Today, high school students from Sandusky County had the opportunity to learn more about business and entrepreneurship during our Student Career Camp! We started off at Terra State Community College, where Amy Drongowski spoke about the Business Management program. Students then had the chance to create their own products and services and pitch them to the group, similar to a Shark Tank experience! Next, we visited Fremont Federal Credit Union, where students heard from several departments about the various skills needed in management. To wrap up the day, we enjoyed a delicious lunch and tour at Root's Poultry, where we learned about entrepreneurship and explored the ins and outs of business ownership, operation, and management in a retail, production, and distribution context. We want to express our sincerest gratitude to North Point Educational Service Center, Terra State Community College, Fremont Federal Credit Union, and Root's Poultry for making this event a success!
