Our Director of Programming, Cindy Bowers, was part of the 2024 WAA Annual Conference Planning Committee, representing San Diego Theatres as we joined WAA in fostering connections and dialogue within the performing arts community. On #NationalNonprofitDay, we’re proud to celebrate our role as a performing arts nonprofit in San Diego. Our mission goes beyond entertainment—we actively support and uplift other local nonprofits. We recently joined the Gaslamp Quarter Association, a nonprofit that promotes over 400 businesses in our vibrant district through community relations, special events and promotional programs. We're also long-time participants in Home Start Inc.'s annual holiday toy drive, a tradition that started in our ticketing department nearly 30 years ago. Last year, our team collected over 180 toys and $1,000 in gift cards and this year we are taking our efforts to a new level (stay tuned for exciting news)! Through the Balboa Theatre Grant Fund, we recently awarded nearly $50,000 to incredible nonprofit performing arts organizations that call our historic stages home. Thanks to donor and sponsor support, we’re making our spaces more accessible to diverse groups in our community, including San Diego Opera, San Diego Gay Men's Chorus, La Jolla Music Society, Classics 4 Kids, City Ballet of San Diego and the International Mariachi Foundation. Together, we’re supporting local arts and enriching our community!
