The Resilience and Wellness Summit was truly outstanding, offering an enriching experience that began with a transformative mindfulness practice led by Josh Rizzo, which set a positive and reflective tone for the day. This initial practice allowed attendees to center themselves, fostering a sense of calm and focus as we prepared to engage in the day’s discussions. Following this, Josh and Kevin Basik (PhD, US Air Force retired) facilitated a powerful dialogue on resiliency, prompting us as leaders to reflect on our roles and responsibilities in not only striving to be our best selves but also in being truly present for those most important in our lives, as well as those we serve. Their insights underscored the importance of self-awareness and emotional intelligence in fostering meaningful connections with others. Rodney Bullard, CEO of The Same House, further inspired everyone by emphasizing that one person can help change the world by connecting with others and enhancing the three feet around us. His message resonated deeply, reminding us that small acts of kindness and connection can have a significant impact on our communities. I want to extend special thanks to Russ Laney for his servant heart and unwavering commitment to championing this event, as well as to Thomas Thompson, who was our dynamic MC and plays a pivotal role in our city’s initiative to connect individuals with the mental health and wellness support they need. As we left the summit, we carried with us the powerful reminder that "nobody cares what you know until they know that you care," inspiring us to approach our lives and leadership with compassion and purpose.
